I remember when rerolls were rare. They really came about in bloodbowl. Now it seams everybody gets rerolls.

Is it me or is this a crutch mechanic that GW games designers use when they cant come up with a better rule. Units used to be special because the had better profiles....now GW just slaps a reroll on everything. I'm already rolling a bunch of dice, now i get to reroll them.....yeah!. It was cool the first few times, but i liked it better when they were a rare occurrence that you got to use like a fate point and save a character or something.

I havent noticed that big of a difference in number of rerolls. Personally I think it's a better system than using dices other than a D6 (otherwise all of the different profiles still boils down to a 2+ or a 3+?)

I don't think there's too much of it. We don't have rerollable armor saves yet, at least. Either way, it's pretty much just restricted to twin linked weapons and expensive HQs.

I guess Eldar Fortunes don't count? That's all saves, btw. And isn't there a Chaos Marine character who can re-roll armor saves?

EDIT: I'm also certain there's a Daemon who has a re-rollable save bubble.

Elder psyker powers give you a lot of rerolls. FNP is essentialy a reroll. LCs give rerolls. Chaplains give rerolls. Blood Angels have a lot of rerolls.

I'm OK with it. It keeps things useful without running too much risk of becoming overpowered or some kind of broken combination that GW missed while writing the codex.

Re-rolls are a simple way of adding in negative or positive modifiers.


Many game systems, instead of doing this, will add a modifier on to what you need to roll in the first place. a pretty silly thing to do when dealing with dice that have sometimes dozens of sides.


it makes the game smoother and quicker by just rerolling the dice. more user friendly.



There are more ways of forcing rerolls then there used to be, but the game is a living breathing thing and the increase of a good thing is to be expected.

Eh, I don't see it as a big deal. sure it's not as rare as it used to be, but it's easier than coming up with some convoluted ruling or modifiers for something. Rerolls keep it simple and quick
