A Black Templar chaplain can have 3 cenobyte servitors. Any infantry squad he joins, leads or is attached to, adds +1 to the righteous zeal move that Templars have to make per cenobyte.

A BT Chaplain with 3 cenobytes can also not be attached to a squad with veteran skills.

The BT codex allows chaplains to be attached to a command squad.

So the question is...can a BT Chappy join a Sword Brethern squad that has a veteran skill.

RAW, since they make a use of the language that shows a strict definition and differentiation between being joined to and being attached to a squad, my thoughts are yes, he can join the SB squad.

Thoughts and comments?

I don't have the BT codex, but according to what you say, he can join them. Also IIRC, a Chaplain with Cenobytes may join a squad but the squad may not CHOOSE a veteran skill.

Chappy w/ Cenobytes + Sword Brethern - Veteran Skill = Okay

Chappy w/o Cenobytes + Sword Brethern + Veteran Skill = Okay

But I am going on what I know from matches VS BT...

The squad already has chosen the skill. The rules say he cannot be attached, which is different from joining.
