I posted this in the news and rumors section, but no one seems to either know or care to respond. Last Friday, my FLGS advised me that GW will be hosting the 40K Ard Boyz in August this year rather than April (I believe he said the Fantasy Ard Boyz would be in April instead).
Has anyone else gotten this info?

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Sounds about right. I got the preliminary schedule a bit ago, and that seems to match.

It's a promotion of the Trade Sales dept of GW US. A tournament series hosted by local independent retailers; 2500pts, no painting required, only scored on battle points. There are a lot of threads if you want to search back.

I hadn't heard, but Hardboy is to ironic to be worth caring about for the serious player. The irony is in the structure:
The concept of play anything you want! and high points value! NO COMP! NO SPOPRTS! NO PAINT!
vs
Missions written to enforce comp, penalize specific armys and builds and then randomize the results with previously unknown, made up, non standard 40k rule scenarios.
Then, the community generally behaves like winning or placing at Hardboy means anything beyond getting lucky with all the random matching, unknown missions and under the table reverse psychology composition.
It's a waste of time. The 'Ardest tournament in the land ought to use the actual rules for the game.
