Well, what with their 'favourable' rulesets and Wolfy Wolfen Wolf Guard Claws Codex entries, I'd pretty much had my fill of the Emperor's Crufts.
Then I read Prospero Burns.
So it turns out, they're very cool. They don't call everything Wolf Wolfy Wolves. That's what outsiders dub them. Vlka Fenryka is far cooler than Space Wolves. They refer to themselves as The Rout. And they don't call the Fang the Fang. It's the Aett meaning, simply, home, in hearth cant.
Jaws of the World Wolf is still a nightmare, but, Abnett has turned them around for me.

If prospero burns had not had the image of the wolves riding wolves furthered into what it hints at, I may have seen a chance for the SW to redeem
themselves in my eyes.
As it stands, they seem to ignore the intelligence collected and get caught inside their own trap. Expected such petty spy vs spy games in a AL book...

...urrrr... I dunno

Haters gonna hate.
But yeah, to be fair, the Wolf naming isn't actually that prevalent in the codex - certainly, it's not to the extent it gets hyped to. And besides, i doubt the SW could seriously look at themselves in the mirror and say "I am a Space Wolf" without laughing.

"Manipulated" is such a strong word. Nobody except Magnus was aware of Horus' corruption and in a position to tell the Emperor, and Magnus was the one being questioned here.
Try to see it from Russ' point of view, he had orders that Magnus was dangerous and should be brought in from the big E. Horus, for all he knew, his perfectly reasonable (and don't forget second in command to the big E himself) brother and commander told him that Magnus, who was under suspicion of corruption, was too dangerous (I mean come on he was one of the most powerful sorcerers to have ever lived!) to bring all the way back to Terra.
Russ made the call given these circumstances. He did the only thing that he could see that would safely end the confrontation. He purged Prospero to the ground.
In the end I'm sure he probably felt some regret for his rashness but at the time it was the best thing to do, hell I would have done it.
the haterz and their hatin, SW are FTW and I won't saw otherwise.

I agree all you said but, to fill a gap, horus fooled russ (well he is a warmaster and the eye of terra the watchmen of the empreror so yes nobody can argue him and russ already hates from magnus because what happened before they were fighting together on a crushade world, he saw the magic of the sons.)
so it was easy when warmaster misinformed him that empreror wants magnus dead. the original order of the empreror is to bring him bacl to terra. anyway.
I know that SW is very determined and enduring brother chapter yes but the way that they interpret the thousand sons as sorcerers, because their gene speciality, the same cures got SW, the canix vertex, the Wulfen curse. so I think there should be a switch of players could be happened, I mean wulfen could efect the SW and then instead of magnuss russ could be deal and bargain via premordial annihilators, etc... I just wanted to show another point of view.
So yes SW FTW... I surrender =)

It makes sense if you understand Russ's personality.
For the Dark Angels, you only fight to either train or on the battlefield.
For the Space Wolves, fights are also what happen after throwing back a few too many. They're friendly brawls, though, and the winner most likely helps the loser up off the floor when it's over - assuming that the loser is still conscious, of course. At the very least, there shouldn't be any hard feelings over the result of the brawl.
Russ realized the absurdity of the situation that he was in, fighting with a fellow primarch and paused as a result. Overly serious Johnson thought Russ was a buffoon and took advantage of Russ's pause to knock him unconscious.

It's like the other side to Thousand sons, they are basically the same book but from very different points of view.
