Malik - Sword Master of the First Company - Elite 250 Points

(Will insert Fluff Later)

WS BS S I A F S R
5 0 6(10) 4 * 13 13 11

Wargear: Crusader Seals, Sword of Deliverance, Shield of Faith, Extra Armour

Special Rules: Devout Righteous Zeal, Sword Master, Zealous Charge, Counter Attack (Counts as having Leadership 10 for these tests)

Sword Of Deliverance - The Sword of deliverance is an extremely large dreadnought close clombat weapon designed as a sword. It allows Malik to roll S + 2D6 armour penetration against vehicles.

Shield of Faith - The shield of faith is a customized storm shield built from terminator equipment. It confers a 5+ Invulnerable save against glancing or penetrating hits.

Venerable - The player controlling Malik may ask for damage dice to be rerolled after suffering a glancing or penetrating hit (that is not saved by the shield). The second result stands, even if worse than the first.

Devout Righteous Zeal - If Malik suffers damage on the damage Chart, and is not immobilised or destroyed, then he may move D6 in any direction. He may use his crusader seals to re-roll this. This is done once, at the end of the opponents shooting phase.

Sword Master - In close combat, Malik always has D3 + 1 attacks basic per combat round (this is not counting additional attacks he may receive when charging or counter attacking). In addition, the score rolled for the D3, is also the number of models in combat with Malik who must reduce their attacks by 1 for that round. If there are less models than rolled, then excess attacks are not lost. E.g, 2 models vs Malik would each lose one attack on the D3 roll of a 3, the excess number having no effect. This effect is resolved before combat begins, so will still reduce the number of incoming attacks even if a model with higher initative is in the combat. This rule may not be used to prevent grenade attacks.

Zealous Charge - Malik counts as having furious charge. In addition, because of the speed and ferocity of Malik's charge, his sheer size and mass will inflict impact hits on the unit in question. The unit suffers D6 S6 hits automatically, BEFORE combat is resolved. Armour and invulnerable saves may be taken normally against these hits, but cover saves may not.

I like the idea, he's VERY strong. 250 points....maybe.

But I mean, nothing can take him in close combat he's unstoppable. You'd have to shoot him; however....
(in front or side)
A lascannon has a:
0.66 * 0.33 * 0.5* 0.33 *0.33
hit * pen chance* save * destroy chance * rerolled destroyed chance
= 0.0118
= 1% chance to destroy him

Hmm, or with a melta gun within 6":
0.66 * 0.6 * 0.5 * 0.68 * 0.68
=9%

I mean, and whatever shot that melta will be VERY dead next turn.

Just think on it

Yeah, 4++ to 5++, then rerolling damage chart, plus the fact a 1,2 does nothing too a walker in close combat (where this guy will most likely be), ARGH.

Also have you heard of Tankred? Was a Black Templar in the Damnation Crusade who 'died' and returned as a Dreadnought.

And of course, the friendly guys a /tg/ decided to butcher the already scrambled remains into somthing idiotic, but strangely hilarious at the same time.

Ok, 4++ reduced to 5++, points cost still the same. Is this more balanced?

I'd personally ignore the 5+ invun against damage and just replace it with somthing like

'all damage rolls are done with -1 to the roll' representing this dreadnought truely dosn't care how much damage he sustains as long as he reaches the enemy. Or just superior construction. Or a combination of both, I know the BT are one of the few loyalist chapters I actually care about and are awesome enough too pull that off.

just one thing i think you should remember, Black Templar's don't have companies so instead of Sword Master of the first company how about Sword Master of the Marshal's household?

The Sword Brethern = First company

I just thought that the name was more interesting than "Sword Brethern Dreadnought"

...except no.

The Sword Brethren, while the EQUIVALENT of a Codex Chapter's First Company, is not a "Company" at all, as the Black Templars form fighting units in a rather ad-hoc fashion.

Just make him the "High Champion" or something and make him an ex-Emperor's Champion. That'd make sense.

I like it, a dread that die ridiculously easily! (I don't count Bjorn cos space wolves smell)

Make an awesome model, chop chop

Personally, I'd never play anyone that used that model.

Invul, reroll damage, reduce attacks by one (if even only a few models, that royally screws many armies who consist mainly of units that only have 1 attack in CC anyway), AND an AV that is 1 higher than a normal dread? Ridiculous.

Its as survivable as Bjorn, a model which is 100% legal.

TH/SS terminators would own this dreadnought.

That's great, for other SM players. Not so great for anyone that doesn't play SM.

Also, I know nothing of this "bjorn" character.

*Edit*
First off, big shock it's another SM dread (bjorn). Secondly, going off of what is written in the army profiles on this site, he is not as survivable as this one you proposed. But again, that is only going off of what is in the army profiles list here, which I'm sure is incomplete. Third, being "legal" doesn't have anything to do with whether or not I'd choose to play against someone using a model I knew I couldn't do anything against.

I would like to see a model of this, and I don't think it is that ridiculous, AV 13 is the same as an Ironclad dreadnought. 5+ Invul. save is much more fair than a 4+, but playtesting this model is a real must.
