So this idea is definitely still in the brainstorming stage, but I want to see what you guys think or if you have any inspiration or ideas.

The chapter hasn't a name yet, but they are inspired partly by the Black Dragons chapter. The were founded during the 21st cursed founding, and their gene-seed was altered on which resulted in mutations giving them sharp, blade-like growths of bone protruding from their skeleton. Overtime they learned to use these growths as deadly assault weapons and their apothecaries began to encourage these mutations and even try to inject them into voluntary marines.

The inquisition became aware of their faulty gene-seed and the taboo actions of the chapters apothecaries and accused them of heresy, as views to better a gene-seed is like trying to better the work of the emperor himself. They waged war aganist the chapter and destroyed their homeworld, a large portion of the chapter managed to escape and fled. The inquisition searched for them for quite a while, but couldn't find them and so had to abandon the crusade due to more important matters at hand.

The chapter still fights in the name of the empire, but does so in a quick and stealthy manner to try to not draw attention to themselves. They wander the galaxy purging enemies of the imperium in the name of the emperor.

....Thoughts? Thats the jist of it.

for a name: try something with claws, scything, talons etc... in it

Yea it is a bit cliche but its hard not to be sometimes unfortunately. I was thinking for the name something that started with hidden, so maybe like...Hidden Talons? I don't know something around that, but better.

Emperor's Talons

Something in their name that still says "loyal" even if they are hunted...

Fists, Angels, And Emperor's are already taken. SO choose something unique.

Haha I suppose I at least need a unique name to make up for the slightly cliche storyline, but I have to admit I kind of like Emperor's Talons.

You need to do background searches for names that you like. Someone somewhere might of came up with it. I'll do a quick search. But Emperor's (Insert name here) is super common and we don't need anymore.
Found out it is the name of the emperor's lightning claws which is already in the possession of a Imperial Space Marine Champion. So you can't really use the name as it is marked as too holy.

These guys seem to be Black Dragons + Soul Drinkers. Either make them more different than the Black Dragons or use the Black Dragons.

Oh well, I'm fine with not being completely original, I'm just looking forward to the modeling/painting and the codex creating experience.
Plus they aren't completely thought out yet, just in the brain-storming stage.

Maybe Void Talons as a name? Purple and another colour as a scheme?
Not renegades but watched by the Inq. so they have to be careful.

I'm too surprised that it was taken as something. Sounded a little too generic to be original. I'm sure I'll come up with the name in a matter of time the main thing I am working on at the moment is thoughts for fluff and the codex.

Nah. They aren't being watched by the inqusition anymore. They might be suspected. But no creepy inqusitior peering through a window.

In that case I could probably work with that.

This basically sounds like the Black Dragons in a thousand years. The interesting part about the cursed founding was that each chapter had a unique fault, having two near identical chapters kinds of ruins it.
