Basically i need a lot of plasma guns and melta guns for my blob guard but i dont want to shell out 15$ bucks for one of each like GW wants me to, so what do you guys do any ideas are appreciated thanks.

Well, there are several options.

You can proxy your list if your group lets you.

Ebay has bits that are not too expensive sometimes.

Trade forums like here on Dakka might net you some.

Thats all I can think of...

Buy the melta/plasma gun bits from GW. You can find them under the Space Marine bits online. Something like 10$ for 5 plasma guns and less for the melta guns. The use grenade launcher arms and fit them to your guardsmen. Voila! Its what I did and they look fine.

I would suggest the metal bits too. It is $8 for 5 meltas, and $8.25 for 5 plasma:

I got lucky with mine, someone was selling off his guard and I got a bunch off plasma and melta gun guys.

I combined plasma pistols with normal lasguns to get a good looking model. Stuck on a cut down vox pack, cut off the las magazine and used wire to connect the two. To finish it off i added the valve handle from a flamer pack as a regulator between the hose and the gun.

This worked well because I had some spare SM plasma pistols. I think any pistol would work and was suprised with the results. I would post pics but I need my housemate to teach me how to use his camera.

not sure about plasma guns but i made some pretty decent looking melta guns with a couple fo bits.

basically cut the flamer nozzle off and the lower stub so that there is onyl 1 piece projecting form it. next cut of the tube and glue it to the bottom of the gun (like the melta gun hose). finally glue the tip of the autocannon onto the front of the flamer.

The only real options are buy, beg, borrow, steal or proxy. Oh, or convert, but it'll probably be harder to get, say, the nozzle of a meltagun or the plasma coil of a plasma gun as a seperate bit than it would be to just get the whole weapon.

If you regular a FLGS ask around and see if you can scrounge some off of some SM players.

The GW multi-packs aren't badly priced, TBH, and if you want official designs...

The GW metal packs are your best bet. You'll end up feeling stupid for buying $50+ of meltaguns and plasma, but it really is the cheapest option.

I did what bleedge did to a degree. Sacrificed a bunch of flamers.

Cut the tubes off moved the nozzle to connect to the gun. Bit of shaving here and there and a dab of greenstuff to smooth things out. Where the hose connects at the bottom of the flamer i smoothed out and greenstuffed so it looks like a detachable canister and made a few more out of greenstuff to attach to the belts of the guardsmen. made it into a sort of single charge weapon. Works well enough and looks ok.

For plasma guns im not sure but i get a lasgun and a plasma pistol could be finagled into something worthwhile. Ill give it a shot and see what i can do to make something look decent out of it.

I'd recommend either the GW metal blister pack of just the guns, or to buy bitz off of a bitz site like thewarstore. With the latter option, you get to buy plastic, which makes them MUCH easier to hack into a set of grenade launcher arms.

This works for plasma (I used a bunch of Space Wolves plasma guns for my CSMs!), but for melta, GW is by far the cheapest option.

Wow when all else fails ask Dakka Dakka! thank you so much you all were very helpful I think I'm going to try flamer conversion. and plasma pistol and las gun. but if all else fails ill go the gw blister way thanks guys!
