Hello there, a bunch of mates and I are having our own tournament. 1500 points, 1 HQ max, 2 troops min. and no more then 3 heavy support.

The people I'll be playing against are 1 DA, 2 BA armies, 1 Tyranid, CSM or possibly Daemon, SW and possibly a Necron.

I know so far Orks are great at excelling at one type of killing but for whom I'll be up against I'll need a more all-arounder build.

This is what I have come up with so far, any advice is greatly appreciated.

HQ: 110
Big Mek

Elites: 400 (-/+)
7 Nobz + Painboyz
(I plan on spending roughly 400 points, for armor and plenty of PKs)

The plan is obviously hide behind the kan wall whilst I proceed up the field, Nob party wagon pounce on the biggest threat and then let the krumpin' begin

I find myself lost with what to do with the last 99 points.

I presume you don't have enough Ork Boyz, but really squads of 30 are best....

Otherwise get a couple of Grot squads to grab objectives late in the game

Behind Killa kan it's not a bad ideea.Plus they will get a 4+ cover save from the Big Mek.
Your nobz are on foot...I don't know about that.Shotta boyz with nob are ok
22 itsn't worse-25 better.30 in this list...maybe too much

What are you going to do with those Nobz?

I'd get some trukks with your remaining pts. throw your boyz in the trukks and get up feild faster. Also keep the trucks close enough to your Big Mek with KFF so they get their 4+ obscured cover save. I'd put the Big Mek in the battlewagon.
Also I'd do just 3 kans, and get some lootas in there.

So far the advise I see is not all that great for a tournament list. 3 kans is hardly a wall. Scorchas on kans? Really, you are wasting the most valuable feature of the kan (the BS3) take rokkits for armour penetration. The battle wagon is totally out of place and will leave the rest of your army in the dust. From what I see here you have enough to start a good kan wall. Get some lootas for sure (either 2x5 units or one big 15 man unit) I like the 2x5 for shot selection. The PK on your mek is not ideal as you don't want him in CC anyways. that 25 points could be better spend on a buzzcopta or putting it in your nob unit.

You don't want Nobz in a Kan wall or a single Wagon. Drop these and replace with more Boyz and add Lootas and you will be sorted.

Thanks for the mixed views and opinions, I like taking advice from many and trying out different builds and see what works.

I know taking scorchers on kanz is blasphemy for alot of Ork players, myself included. I have just found out in the last few games I've played I've test them out and they have certainly pulled their weight, especially when I like to run with my kanz every turn. And I save 60pts too.

I have never not taken Nobz into a game before, I found that as long as I always point front armor toward enemy lascannon and keep the battlewagon in a bit of cover my opponents have struggled and wasted many shots onto it.
Maybe my mates are bad players but when ever they see "diesel dog" they loose all composure and have to crush the wagon from turn 1 with everything in it.
I like to use this bait to my advantage.

I only have 6 kanz at the moment with another 3 coming soon, I have 130+ boyz so beefing up the numbers a bit to round 30 squads won't be a problem. I keep the squads low, keep the points low, makes the boyz more tactical and have more Nobz /w pk.

I have 12 lootas atm so perhaps 2x6 would work well, are lootas only recommended for popping transports or are they viable against infantry/walkers as well ?

Lootas are great at everything I would say. They can take down infantry units very effectively and walkers as well.
