Hey people, just starting an Empire Army, was wanting to find out what is the most common province (colour schemes) people use for their army. I was wanting to make an army from a provience that not many people use, or use the most (like the large number of blue space marines i see haha). I just want it to stand out and look a bit different.

I have bought some state troop boxes and painted up a few guys in the middenland colour schemes, blue and white, is this quite typical?

Would love to see some pics to of different colour schemes people have done, and any fluff they have wrote about their army.

Much appreciated.

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

I'd say the ones I've seen the least of via the web, and White Dwarf, is probably.

Ostland, Hochland, Ostermark and Nordland.

The most common are probably Middenland/Middenheim, Talabheim, and Nuln.

When I had an Empire army a while back I was Ostermark, might go that way again.

If you can get hold of one the Empire Uniforms and Heraldry book is a really good read. There are some great ideas in there, the special units/regiments especially.

Off the top of my head I think I've seen a fair amount of Nuln.

You could also make them from any province you want based on the background and then alter the color scheme. I have Averlanders, but I use red, dark blue, and yellow saying that they are part of an army raised by one of the province's Counts. Then again I usually never base any army on anything already made, part of the fun for me is creating my own backgrounds and major characters.

My empire army comes from the proud city of Redneckheim, handgunners, halberdiers and swordmen wear grey (adeptus battlegrey to be more precise), greatswords wear striped black and white.

Banners are a variation of blue saltires over red and white with some stars thrown in for good measure.

So, don't be afraid to invent something, we're in this for the fun after all.

Back to your original question, around here it's generally Nuln, mostly because looks good and it's easy and quick to paint.

Thanks for the replies people. Will need to have a look at the Empire Uniforms and Heraldry book. Thanks for the link as well, had a wee look, seems a lot of nuln and averland armies.

Think I will stick with Middenheim, got a few ideas floating around my head. I liked the tale of four gamers articles on the GW website and how the guy who done empire had a theme for his regiments, going to follow that idea.

Kit bashed a guy am going to use as the leader for my swordsman unit, going to make them a mixture of different provinces, but have some unifying theme run through them. There story is that they follow Captain Bullhiem across the empire in search of fame etc etc haha.

Would love to see some pics of your guys models, see what they look like.....and maybe I will steal some ideas lol.

warhammer-empire.com is where you want to ask Empire related questions. Great community over there of decades long Empire players.

I don't see many Stirland forces, or Bogenhafen for that matter.

Ostermark, Nordland, Middenheim, Altdorf, Reikland and such are all rather popular choices so I'd avoid them.

Keep in mind, Empire armies can often be formed of regiments from several provinces, and provinces like the Ostermark and Nordland have great color schemes. My army includes units painted in the colors of Nuln, Talabechiem, Middenland, the Ostermark, Ostland and Stirland.

GW usually paints Talabheim for their units, but with other provinces mixed in. I paint mine as sort of Middenland but my Arty crew are from Nuln

Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms.
