Back when i was a teenager i once painted 20 cadians in a night in a massive batch. What's the biggest batch you've ever painted. If you paint in small batches or no batches at all, why? For example currently i have trouble with batches of 5 because of the multiple stage highlighting i employ.

The most was 30 models. I try to keep it down to 10 or 20 now, as I tend to lose interest when painting more at once.

The most was 25 beast men as I recall WAYYYYYYYYY back in the days when they came out in plastic for the first time.

I play more 40k now and do batch's of 10's for the bulk painting and split to 5's for the marine details. Helps me stay focused on the task and not hurt my back or eyes (getting on now you see )

When im doing boyz it's 10-20. Anything else i do in batches of 5. Staying on one color for too long can be tiring. I like to keep the numbers lower so i get to see more progression, quicker.

I painted 20 Chaos Marauders as one batch once. I had a simple scheme so it wasn't hard, but it was kind of mind numbing. I typically paint batches of 5-10 models.

Biggest batch I've ever done would have been Flames of War models. Two full Shtraf companies, so 42 bases each with 4 figures on plus 4 bases with 3 figures each. So at least 180 15mm Russians as one batch. Never again.

My biggest batch was a meager 6 Ork boys. I usually paint troops in small batches of 3-6, depending on the complexity of the model (e.g. more slugga boys, fewer lootas), with 4 being a pretty steady standard, recently. I paint in infrequent and relatively short bursts, so any more than that means I'll never finish a single step on all of the models in one sitting, as opposed to just sometimes.

Some 70-odd Catachans in 48 hours.

Right after 9/11 the watch on our garrison was doubled, meaning any watch was 48 hours instead of 24.
I spend most of that time, barring the odd patrol, sitting at a desk answering phones and the occasional question from people entering the base.

Hmmm the most I've ever painted at once is about 10 tactical marines but i went back later and painted all the wee details like the purity seals and the small skulls. I don't really like to paint too many at once because I like to spend a lot of time on each model to get them just right.

20 men of Minas Tirith in one sitting.

To be honest they came out pretty good. Better than some models I had painted on their own.

8 Dire Avengers. I hated it so much and the end result was so mediocre that I won't batch paint ever again. It's just not something I'm capable of doing. I like spending a long time on each model and giving them their own unique 'personality.' You can't do that with batch painting.

Although I do tend to paint 2 models at a time normally. Generally though, it's two completely unrelated models. It helps mix things up and slow the set in of boredom, and gives you something to do while the paint is drying for another model.

so far, i have batch painted one platoon of guardsmen, all 45 of them.. only have a couple of details yet to paint (eyes and guns)

I generally prefer painting individuals.. my armies can sit for a long time with no progress, until i get sick of seeing the black or grey horde (usually black, since i at least prime everything)

i also have too many armies in progress at one time.. but i have been good about sticking to just my guardsmen (with the occaisional DnD mini thrown in there for good measure)

When I built my Ork army I batch painted boyz in groups of 20 to 30...glad that's over.

With my Death Guard,Batches of 10 for troops was the usual load, and now with my Praetorians I paint groups of 10 as well.

I did 45 Catachans over the course of three days in 3 hours shifts. I was taking an online course at the time, and found it easier to paint and concentrate rather than sit and listen.

I used to paint 20+ models at once on average and I just can't bring myself to do it anymore. I find that my enjoyment and the quality of my work goes up when I relegate my batches to 5 or 6 models. Also, I find this faster since I don't need to take as many breaks.

my entire tyranids army except for the tyrant and guard, so about 90 models.

with nids it is easier due to the basic washing and dry brushing techniques.

Due to being a new player (and not having a million models) I haven’t really Bach painted. On my orks I can until I get to the straps (which are snake bite leather) and I have found that I need bout four layers before I wash so I don’t Bach paint past that point and go on boy at a time!

I could never face doing it again but 200 marines for my own chapter. I grew heartily sick of my own colour scheme when I had to do 2or 3 coats for each model! For a long time my army had no vehicles, I just couldn't bear to paint the colour scheme...

Depends on what you see as batch painting. I have never finished a mini in 1 sitting, but I do work on a heap at a time because I use a lot of mixed colours for multiple stage highlighting. Mixing up a colour and applying it to 15 models before moving on to the next is way quicker than having to mix that colour over and over and over.
