Hey y'all

This name came up to me many times in my LFGS discussion circle, it seem to be a tactic of sort, I didnt have time to ask what it is, and therefore I dont know what it is.

This magical name is called Blitzkierg

Now carry that into a 40k playstyle.

Does this answer your question?

800 brethren and 2,000 other personnel were expected to reach Crows World within no more than 12 hours. They never arrived.

Let the Bell toll for those that encounter us, not for what we have encountered!

You can't even do a proper Blitzkrieg in 40k. The tables are too small.

You sorta can, although not as spectacularly. Just outflank with some transports. Probably can do it in apoc though, definately with DE Reaver Bikes.

All depends on the lists, the opponents, and yes the size of your table/points.

You couldn't do a real blitzkrieg in 40K, though you could follow the idea in spirit.

The problem is that blitzkrieg is all about ignoring strong points and attacking at the weak. Whenever you come across somewhere entrenched, that is too heavily defended to take down right now, you drive around it and cut off the supply lines. The other thing that blitzkrieg does that is impossible for 40k to reproduce is close air support. The ground forces have amazing support from the air, and in that way can take on forces well above their strength and come out victorious. Warhammer 40k doesn't take into account places like towns (with civilian populations), supply lines, or aircraft, all of which are integral to blitzkrieg warfare.

You could do the tank spearhead idea of blitzkrieg. Powerful tanks make a small hole in the enemy defenses, then mechanized infantry pour into the hole and crush the soft interior. That could be feasible, and that is what most people think of when they hear blitzkrieg. However there is a lot more to it than that.

Couldn't you boil blitzkrieg down into a tank rush.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

You could do it with IG - Alphastrike with 3+ Valkyries/Vendettas, have Chimeras move up, supported by artillery/russes.

Deepstrike is another way to do it, deepstriking behind the lines to take out something important. However given the relative tiny scale of 40k, it'd probably be limited to blowing artillery lines and whatnot.

The current trend with quasi-flyers in the various dexes could make aerial support viable. Again going back to DE, where Reavers can speed across the board while being supported by The various flyers in the book.

It's still not a true blitzkrieg. The blitzkrieg is more of a campaign stragey than tactics for the small engagements that 40k depicts.

You could, but like I said, that isn't just what blitzkrieg is all about. It's about hitting your opponent so much faster than they have time to respond. This requires surprise and speed. You can't have surprise in 40k, because everyone can see everything (no fog of war). You can't have speed in 40k (not realistically) because all units are limited to a certain speed in a turn, and since you can't move on your opponents turn, it gives them too much time to react and counter your charge.

40K just doesn't have enough movement. It works pretty well in Epic though.
