My sister and I love Ork fluff, and also love the game whenever we win. Therefore, we need army lists that let us love the game as often as possible. We are hoping for 1500 point armies, she wants a Big Mek army and I want one that kicks the but of just about anyone. Each of us has about a 700 dollar budjet, though I would we would like to spend hopefully around 400 or less. Please submit your 1500 point ork army lists and critique others.

Hilarious The mek can be awesome with Kan Wall armies since the Kustom Force Field gives the kans cover and he can fix em up. The Shokk Attack Gun is also great. Not very reliable, but very flufy and can do horrible things to your enemy, or you. So start with a Mek with KFF, some killa kans, and the next person can add on...

Thanks! But do you think we should both have Big Mek armies? It would be kind of cool, but I would have to rewrite my fluff...
Hmmm...
I wonder if orks have a machine kult like umies do?
Lots of cyborks...
LOTS of dakka...
hmmm....

Speed freaks? They LOVE bikes and fast fings, and those are machiney. What kind of Ork fluff grabs you? There really isnt 1 Ill beat your face ork build. There are good ones, and there are some even ground ones and then theres some crap ones. Oh you could have a counts as(make your own fluff is a + in my book) Mad Dok. He can grant any unit in your horde a cybork save for 5pts a mini. That would allow you to make a "machine kult" for Orks.

Okay, first thing is, pool your resources. Second thing is, if you are any good with scratchbuilding, $400 is about twice as much as you need for a decent mek army. Which is a good thing. I currently have a passable 2000pt list, and I've only spent maybe 70 bucks on the whole thing. And the models aren't atrocious proxies, either, but wysiwyg.
Now, if you're doing a Green Tide army, that's just a tad more expensive. But, generally taken to be one of the harder armies to beat at lower point values, just for sheer mass. Other than templates and pie plates, a 1500 pt Green Tide could easily have six full mobs of 30 boyz, plus a little extra for the nobz to go along with them (that's including two fully kitted out Warbosses. Take a Warphead for extra fun.). That's 180 wounds, all with a 6+ cover save. In five turns, your enemy would have to deal 36 unsaved wounds every turn just to destroy your boyz. Once again, not counting the nobz or Warbosses.

Maybe its late, but how do you get a 6+ cover save? You mean armor save? But I agree at lower points a full blown horde is tough to handle. And best yet, you can save money by buying AOBR boyz on ebay, you can get like 20 for like 10 bucks. Sure most people say th best foot slogger Ork should be a shoota boy, but Im sure most people wouldnt mind you using them as count as shootas boyz from time to time. You go that route, youll need to learn how to roll fast and move fast. A mob of 30 choppa boyz dish out 116 attacks and 4 PK attacks a turn, per mob.

The only way this could possibly happen is if you bought that army from someone at a FLGS who just happened to quit the game. If thats the case, grats, but don't expect everyone to have such luck. Even if you ebayed everything, you will not find a 2000 point orks army for anywhere near 70 dollars.
To the OP,
One mekky theme is lots of Kans. Kans IMO are a steal at 30 dollars for 3.

Like I said, scratchbuild. Both Deffdreads, three kanz, two battlewagons, and the upgrades from nob to meganob from AoBR termies. An AoBR nob into a big mek w/KFF, some deffcoptaz and AoBR boyz, a boyz box, a Nob box, a Kanz box, scratchbuilt Megaboss. Oh, and some scratchbuilt Buggies.
Like I said, Mek list. Battlewagons are actually pretty easy to make, just be careful about keeping them within acceptable size limits (they're smaller than you'd think). And with a little imagination, kanz are fairly simple too. start with soda bottle tops, or paintpots, or film cannisters. Plasticard arms and legs, and some grotzookas made of plasticard and pen casings. For ideas, just search for 'scratch built killa kanz'.
And yeah, 6+ Armour saves. my bad.

Big Mek Army? Well there is two ways you can go about that! KFF and SAG.
I personally like the SAG Better but you can get one of each and see how they both perform. KFF is used to walk up with with troops or put inside a tank and use his KFF to give as make of your guys cover saves until you get up close.
You will need lots of boys. My Suggestion is to make them Shoota squads of like 20 or so and have a powerclaw boss pole guy in each one.
You will need Killa Kans and Maybe Deff Dreads. When you get further points, Meganobs and Especially Battle Wagons will be open and if you do not like the Meganobs than you can go with
Super Nob Squads which usually consist of a Painboy, Lots of Big Choppas, and Different Wargear to abuse their wound allocations.
Burna Boys and Especially Lootas is a MUST! If you are looking for fun and want a foot slogging list than invest in Old Zogwart. He could prove to be good for a few laughes if you manage to turn your opponents HQ into a Squig.
OH and TRUKKS! Get lots and Lots of TRUKKS! There is no such thing as an Ork Player who does not have a bunch of them laying around somewhere. They are funny when they get penetrated hits on them.
However for what they lack in Armor they make up for easily in Speed. Paint it red and you got your super nob squad in it. Move it up 19 Inches and It does not matter if the Trukk gets shot down. It did Its job!
TRUKKS! Plus the Kit is Amazing to Put together and Fun as Hell to paint.

Don't exclude the stormboyz and tank bustas as many people do. They can be really fun to play and do really well if you learn how to use them.
I'm not saying they are the best unit ever, but they are fun.

Though that's a bit of an understatement. They're actually really, really bad, tactically in some ways. Stormboyz in general won't last more than two turns unless you get incredibly lucky with your roles, but they can be effective for that first turn rush into a unit that could cause problems later in the game, such as artillery, or used to weaken or even take out a stronger unit like a Daemon Prince before your boyz get there.
Haven't used Tankbustaz yet, but I honestly don't think they're all as bad as everyone says.

Well oddly enough the best way to use Stormboyz is not to rush them into assaults. They are far to costly to just throw into a meat grinder, read any battle rep where people do that, and they do indeed just eat it. No, the best way to use Stormboyz is for counter assaults, and adding more umph to a unit already in assault. They are perfect for that because the area they cover is pretty impressive. Use them that way, and yea they can totally be worth their points. Unless you take Zastruk then, only because of his abilities is it ok to just throw them at the enemy, but that reason is fairly obvious

Alright, here's a Machine Kult army list I'm working on... It's probably terrible, but at least it's a start! Also, I know I'm not following your advice, I just want to post this and see if it is at least... no, not half... maybe a tenth decent.
HQ
Big Mek w. kustom force field... 85

Thats a lot of Dredz. Good on ya!
Personally, I like to go wiff Shoota boyz, 'speshuly in da big mobz, but eh. Youz get what youz want.
Nice thing about having that many dreds, is that they'll draw, and split, pretty much all the enemie's anti-tank fire, because you really don't want even a single one of those dreads smashing into your lines, let alone five of them. I'd suggest outfitting one or two with some Skorchas or KMBs. The KMBs are same price, and can help weaken up tanks before assault, and skorchas are good when smashing into infantry positions.

I'm completely in agreement with duncan on this one. I really can't see anything to critique.
The only thing I can suggest is convert everything! If its a true Mekboy army, nothing will be the same, as no enterprising mek ever builds the same thing twice
