So I'm going to be moving sometime and I have a lot of City of Death ruins and many large very breakable models. I'm going to moving some 750 miles alway from my house so multiple trips will be out of the question and I'm just going to be taking my car which has a fairly decent sized trunk. Luckily I won't have much else to transport besides DnD books and clothes. So I'm wondering what the best way to transport large models would be. Right now I'm thinking about putting them in a box and have a layer of packing peanuts and other soft things in between them and possibly wrapping them loosely in case they break all the parts would be confined to the wrapped section. Any ideas and suggestions are greatly welcome. And I'm hoping to do this cheaply as possible.

Then for sure you want to go with packing peanuts. you might even have to cut them up a bit to get them in the smaller spaces.
Bubblewrap is also your friend. Not terribly expensive.
Try to reduce empty space that will cause your models to move around in the box, this is where your breakage will occur

S'all fun and games until some no life troll master debates all over your space manz & ruins it for you

What Mukkin'About said.

Also, make sure to secure the boxes in the trunk itself. You don't want them sliding around.

+1 for packing peanuts and bagging/wrapping the models. A box full of packing peanuts, and then work the models/ruins into it, will reduce movement greatly.

And make sure that the box is strong enough - the packing peanuts won't save them if something penetrates the box. I like those collapsible plastic crates myself.

At least you don't have to worry about movers wrecking stuff!
