Hi Guys,
A few friends and I have played a few games of PS, although it has it quirks its a nice change for the mean time from reg 40K. I did have a question. I have a number of Bastions that we use for the game and was wondering on this ruling;
"A bastion, because it's a type of building (p 78) counts as an immobile vehicle. So an enemy unit cannot come within 1" of it in the movement phase. He can't just move up and touch it. In order to claim an undestroyed building, he either has to assault it, ram it, or somehow get the guys inside to come out and then occupy it. " The player I played against last night argued that buildings can be approached as normal terrain.....so he was just able to walk up and claim the prize.
Also just wondering to the damaged results for buildings..... Its says it treats all stunned as shaken which I get and all immobilized results as weapon destroyed results. What if the building doesn't have any weapons or is out of weapons, does it in turn become a wreck from the next weapon destroyed result???
Thanks in advance!

You are correct, in PS bastions must be assaulted, unless they are already claimed by your side. Your page 78 quote shows why. And yes, a building without weapons would be destroyed if immobiized/weapon destroyed results are achieved.

You might note that the prohibition against moving within 1" of a model only applies for enemy models. Unoccupied building is NOT enemy models, so not only can you move within 1" of them during the movement phase, you're not allowed to shoot or assault them.

Solkan that is completely untrue.
As the attacker(barring several mission) Bastions, Skyshields, and Fortresses of redemption are all enemy buildings; the bastions and fortresses all fire at you every turn until you can enter them.
Unfortunately right now my Planetstrike book is at my friend's house clear across town and he is at work, but there are rules for "embarking" into unoccupied enemy buildings; or at least there are several rules that would require such an allowance to occur(especially all the Defender's stronghold stratagems, and the Automated weapon entries themselves).
As the attacker; firing on unoccupied buildings is perfectly legal, and unoccupied buildings WILL fire on you.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

Readers should note that this is only the case in planetstrike - not in regular 40K.
