So, I've been working on a batch of Reaper minis for my D&D mini collection recently, and had the urge to whip something up wielding a pair of sickles. Unfortunately, Reaper's miniatures with sickles are all 1) terribly sculpted, 2) undead, or 3) wielding a khopesh and calling it a sickle. Additionally, out of Reaper's numerous weapon packs, I was only able to find one decent sickle, and it's one of the full-half-moon, polearm varieties - not what I'm looking for.

So I ask you, Dakka, do you know of 1) any good weapon packs out there from other companies that include a good sickle, or 2) a good way to convert one up that doesn't involve plasticard? I have a pretty large 40k bitz box to work from, including numerous Space Marine, Ork, IG, Tau, Daemons, and Necron bitz, but so far have found nothing that'd make a decent converted sickle.

Any help would be appreciated! All suggestions welcome!

For reference, what I'm looking for should look somewhat like this:

Note the gentler curve and shorter blade than the standard agricultural variety.

Thanks!

Scyzantine Empire

I'd like to preface the post by stating that I can't see the pic, but get the idea. I went looking for a scythe-equipped miniature from Reaper to represent one of my gaming group's characters (an Avenger of the Raven Queen) and had very little luck. I ended up converting a model to fit the job.

A bit of brass rod and some carefully cut and sanded plasticard should do the job. The claws on the converted flayed ones are made the same way.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Well, I recalled this one model which has sickle as a weapon:

Though paying 4£ for just a weapon might be too much, but at least you wouldn't have to use plasticard

Any particular reason you're against using plasticard? It honestly seems like your best option. If the issue is simply not having any, then I'm sure you could find a reasonable substitute laying around. Hell, I've cut and filed bits and bobs out of everything from plastic eating utensils to canceled credit cards.

It's mostly that I'm terrible at sculpting anything at all forever. If I try and make it from scratch, it'll look like absolute ass.
