Subject: The Horus Heresy TV Show (Sadly just speculation, not news)

It occurred to me that you could make an awesome TV show based around the Horus Heresy in the style of Lost, basing the show during the Heresy, starting with Isstvan and progressing to the Siege of the Emperor's Palace on Terra, with Flashbacks and Flashforwards and so on. Although I would not like the TV show to be based around the Horus Heresy novels, the Emperor is barely featured in the books, and in the show could be revealed only through Flashbacks. These flashbacks, incase you hadn't guessed, would reveal how each of the Primarchs was discovered by the Emperor and brought back into the fold. Flashbacks for non-Primarchs could mostly be focused on Terra, or the earliest parts of the Great Crusade generally.
Obviously, with 18 Primarchs and other vital characters such as Garviel Loken, Nathaniel Garro, etc, you'd have a HUGE ensemble cast, but the fairly large cast of Battlestar Galactica and the huge cast of Lost shows that with great scripting and some character turnover from season to season it can work.
Now, I suspect it may actually work better as animated rather than live action, but that denies us the chance to write a wishlist of who would play each character. On the plus side, we get to think about who would play each part and be able to decide how old we want them to be when they play that part.
So, what features would you like this TV show to have, and who would you want to play each of the characters? The casting for Horus would need to be perfect, so I think that would be hardest... (Oh, and I'll be assuming we have the finest CGI money can buy, and so body size, etc, need not be a factor - it is mainly faces we'll be worrying about for the casting.)

Not gonna happen, but if it does the best we could hope for would be a CGI program similar to Star Wars the Clone Wars, which imo is actually well written and entertaining despite a rather overused premise. So a Horus Heresy show in the same manner could work.

A niche sci-fi TV with a great plot and actors could potentially work, just look at Firefly...oh wait.

Sadly, it'll never happen, that much is clear. However, who woudl you want to play who if it did happen?
I'd always want to find space for a young Gary Oldman. Maybe as Lorgar's nasty Chaplain who first tempted him with Chaos...

...tanks from the 23rd and 48th batallion were flanked by tanks from the enemies' 56th batallion. It was then that General Smedfordshire revealed his secret weapon: a slightly larger tank.

I want to play Corax.
Mel Gibson to play Lorgar. We need a colossal toolbag to play a colossal toolbag.

I like the idea, but I would prefer for it not to be in CGI. CGI leads to strange facial expressions and even Clone Wars which is pretty darn good for CGI has its moments where it doesn't come across all that well animation wise. If it was animated by one of the studios that did say for example, one of the recent DC animated movies it would be look amazing and flow great.
The idea sounds solid enough, but you'd need a stellar team working on it to really pull off the Warhammer feel and make it interesting. This will be very difficult to do and will most likely never happen since it'd probably have to play on some niche channel like Sci-Fi.
