((Sorry if this is the wrong place...))
Right, so I was doing soe busy work and I got an idea. If you had a group of nid players in a club, friend group, whatever, I had an idea of a campaign. The initial idea came from the Warhammer Fantasy campaign where everyone held certain territories and got benefits from different things like different troop choices, another hero for free etc. Except in this case, it's rival Tyranid Hives, each one gunning for galactic supremacy. You had certain types/upgardes yuou could start wiht, and as the campaign progressed and you killed IG/Eldar/Orks/Marines/Other Nids, you gained access to their dirivitive units through the biomass, or more upgrades or points caps. And pretty much the whole thing is who can consume the most amount of planets and wipe out their competition. Think Risk in that there is alimited amount of biomass around, but winning gets you another player's stuff.
Any non nid player could run the opposing forces that the nids will try to kill and eat, maybe even a side campaign where they are trapped in the galaxy and must try and fight off the nids or something.
So yeah. What do you guys think? I know there is a campaign section, but since I didn't intend to run it, just throw out the idea, I though here would be better...

Sounds pretty cool. Since geography is an issue I won't volunteer to play but I would if I could. I definitely like the idea of getting upgrades to your basic units based on what you've eaten. Zoans for eldar I assume, tyrant guard for marines etc. Nomnomnom

The only problem is Tyranids don't do this. While they are different hive fleets, they are still controlled by the same hive mind. One hive mind, many hive fleets.
It would be like deliberately punching yourself in the face.

See, I'm not so much of a Nid player myself, so I didn't know that... Well, how do they justify Nid's vs Nid's in a game fluff wise? There are legitimate ways to have two Emperor fearing factions duke it out, any for the Tyranids? Eh, well, ignore that, you could say that they've got to consume and upgrade as a whole from an overarching perspective, so Nid clashes decide which branch deserves that Shiny Guard Biomass that has been eaten. Like swapping the hand a knife is held in, no net loss, but one side has had it's privilage removed.
Keep it coming, this is great. I don't really intend to start it, at least any time in the forseeable future, but the more holes/solutions found, the better for everyone interested!

If two seperate Nid Hive Fleets are hungry enough, one may consume the weaker one to sustain their biomass. I don't know if there is any conflict between them when they do so.

Actually nid infighting is a regular ocurrence (4th ed codex or IA4i think). The tyranids fight and one devours the other in order to assimilate it's biomass thus the sum total of experience, tactics and bio-rngeneering increases and is shared with the rest of the nids. (Example: Levianthan discovers how to make a deathleaper, a leftover Naga strand comes and they fight, whoever wins gets the deathleaper+Naga's experience with no biomass losses (as they consume each other) while rooting out any weaknesses.
