It's been a couple of years now and I'm still seeing guard players who think their heavy weapon squads can shoot through the 40 guardsmen in front of them....Anyone else still having this issue?

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

Well, if they can actually see you...yes. But you'd be getting a cover save.

Well, they can.....assuming the 40 guardsmen are part of the same squad (in a big blob).

He said Heavy Weapons Squads.

I still have nightmares about blob squads with lascannons.

What issue is that?

Firing models can always ignore other models in their own unit for LoS purposes, so if it's one big blob unit, it's not a problem.

If the other guardsmen are from different units, then the lascannon model need see only a fraction (of the body, head, legs or arms) of any model in your unit to be able to fire, albeit with a cover save by virtue of firing though another unit.

Can models with flame templates ignore models in their own squad for shooting purposes as well? I'm pretty sure I read in the rulebook that they do, but somebody borrowed my book (been gone for 3 months) and I haven't been able to look it up. I know you can't have any of your models from other units under the flame template, but if models from the same squad that is firing the template are under it, doesn't the rulebook state that they are just considered to have moved?

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

It says ignore models in unit for LOS purposes, templates can't be placed if they touch your models.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Well, that's fairly stupid: I can fire a bolter shell through one of my guys' heads without harming him, but a little bit of fire and it doesn't work. Can I at least claim "fluff" with my flamers of tzeentch and say that the flame they put out doesn't affect other models in the unit but has a devastating result on enemies? Pointless, because I run only 3 and I can set them up when they drop so that the templates won't cross my guys, but it would have been an issue when I used to run 4.

Works the same way in real life, and you don't shot through the guys head. The guys in front take up a position, that give the guys in back a claer line of fire. Even with a clear line it hard to not hit someone with a jet of fire, when you spray it rigth next to there head.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.
