Okay, this morning I was looking through my new BA codex and saw the Frag Cannon. Template S6 AP- Assault2 Rending.
This made me think about armor penetration for vehicles since S6 stands a pretty good chance of at least glancing AV10 plus the extra d3 from rending could even potentially pen AV14.
But I know penetrating with AP- causes a -1 penalty on the vehicle damage table, but I also know that a rending hit counts as AP2.
Does this mean that the -1 penalty doesn't happen when you get a rending hit?
I just like the idea of a giant shotgun blowing through the side of a tank...
Also, has a situation like this shown up in any other codex?

No, because a rending weapon against vehicles is not AP2.

A rending hit is not AP2 - it ignores armour saves and gives a bonus to penetration.

yes, the weapon will always be at -1 on the damage chart.

on the bright side, it is a Template weapon with the ability to Pen Land Raiders.

As stated by nos though, Rending does different things to vehicles than it does to non-vehicles; it is never AP2 vs vehicles.
