We all know that sexuality is a bit of a controversy in this hobby. Whether it's topless women or anything Slaanesh, a good majority of people say it's just not appropriate for the game. However, as I was cruising around CMON and I came across this diorama:

So with that said...how far is too far? Do you refuse to play someone if their miniatures are "sexually inappropriate"? Do you find yourself denied games because your miniatures are "sexually inappropriate"?

Darth, there were several big discussions about this particular diorama and the role of this kind of stuff in the hobby ~ a month or two ago. I'll see if I can dig up some links, but you might want to try the Search function.

There's already been threads about this before, but on your example, I think it's fine, as it depicts something which actually happens (thankfully rarely) in warfare. Yes, it could cause a bit of a stir, but I would be fine to play someone with that, it's a plastic miniature, having this on the table isn't really going to infuriate anyone.

My line is that I really don't want to have to see other people's obvious fetishes on the table, so if that Slaneesh tentacle-rape army that pictures popped up of five or six years back, I'm going no where near that, or the player who made it.

For the above diorama, it's just dumb. It's not dark, it's not edgy, it's just pron for the lulz. Someone wanted to stick porn star tits on an Eldar, and used the diorama as an excuse to make them.

Some time around the time I joined Dakka, there was someone in the modeling forum who made sure his rough rider horses were anatomically accurate, which is only a little odd, but not something that I'd think would cause a problem unless he made sure to point them out to each and everyone who walked by. Then again, IIRC, he was oddly aggressive in asking other posters why they didn't do it themselves, which was a little offputting.

This diorama should be set fire to, and its creator should receive intense therapy for creating such an abomination.

In general, I don't like it because I am aware that a lot of kids play the game, and kids playing equals parents watching. Now personally I don't think its offensive as I am not offended by a boobie (we all watch TV from time to time), so much as embarrassing attempting to explain to a happy christian mom who wants her 9 year old good little christian son to be able to play with his toys, why it is that dark eldar need to dress like dominatrix fetishism. I don't think we should be prudish stuffy about it, but overtly sexual imagery has a place that is not in a game of toy soldiers. Gamers have a hard enough time convincing others that we are not all disgusting overgrown puberscant losers who drool over wonder woman comic books - little fetishist figures in our collection are just a hard thing to explain, just make it harder to be understood by the masses as anything other than total losers who can't get a date.
