So let me get this straight, GW makes this frame available as a web exclusive for 10,50 Euro, and if you buy the "Dark Angles Veteran Marines" box you pay 20,-.

The difference between these two items is the little sprue that is also in the regular Marines box with a Meltagun, a Plasma Pistol and some other parts on it that most Marine players already have plenty of.

In other words, for 10,50 you get 5 complete robed (Dark Angel) Marines with all the extra parts like Combat Shield, Power Sword, Power Fist and all the Terminator upgrades. For 20,- the only thing you basically get that is worth it is the Meltagun.

To compare, the Space Marine Combat Squad box costs 19,50 and has 5 bland Marines in it without any extras (right?).

Am I the only one who thinks this is odd, even for GW standards?

On the one hand you could say they are offering a great deal to people who are only interested in the robed Marines (why would they do that when they could just let everyone buy the 20,- kit?), and on the other you could say they deliberately charge you 9,50 for a Meltagun and stuff you don't need

You know this has been covered a bunch of times already, right? I've seen at least 3 or 4 other threads covering this exact same thing.

Nope. If it's not on the first page, and it isn't, then I haven't seen it. As a matter of a fact it isn't on pages 1 through 5.

And if it's older and someone comments in it people come running from everywhere yelling "thread necromancy! thread necromancy!".

Personally, I don't care if you mention it over and over again: it's a great deal and it helps alert new people who don't use the search function. But, as there have been so many threads on it (they may be in other sections of the site) there has been a lot of information on the material that you may have just wanted to add to. Like I said, as long as it isn't spammed 400 times on the first page, I don't care-but if you wanted to see more on the subject, it is here on this site-multiple times. Wasn't intended to be a personal attack, just a short response that maybe came out harsher than intended. I'm a bit fried from grading 15 8-page research papers over the course of 5 hours

It is odd. I got the upgrade sprue when it was built for 10 marines instead of 5, but it cost 20 bucks instead of the cost it is now. They made it slightly more expensive....it's still a good deal tho ^^.

Indirectly the huge amount of people going "oh wow" at it was why GW decided to change it to 5 marines and up the price. This is also why I now refrain from mentioning any special deals on this site, for fear that GW will spoil that too.

GW calculates the price based on how many sprues you get. The Veteran Box gives you two sprues, while the upgrade set only one. Granted, the second sprue only gives you a few extra weapons, it's still a rather fair deal if you consider how much actual plastic you get.
