Can chaos forces such as traitor guard, blood pact and chaos space marines be found in the far eastern edges of the imperium??? just curious because in the map in the Imperial guard codex, there isn't a lot of records of battles against chaos in the east

Its not unheard of, but out in the sticks of the east its mostly Nids, Tau and Eldar.

Because Chaos isn't present in the Eastern Fringe really. You won't find much Chaos related shenanigans outside of areas near tears between the Warp and Realspace(ex: the Cadian Gate, the Maelstrom, etc).

That's where the Tau and a lot of Tyrannic incursions are though.

Lots of Chaos and Renegade forces are actually pirates and roaming warlords IIRC. I see no reason why they wouldn't be out there...though not as much as near the Eye of Terror of course.

You could totally do a Human Auxiliary force, being under control of the Tau.

Not much Chaos in those parts.

Or you could do a Genestealer Cult, although that would be horrible to convert.

Untrue.

"Chaos" does not automatically equal "Renegade".

"Renegade" just means they no longer are under the auspices of the Imperial Guard, and have struck out on their own whether as mercenaries, warlords, or whatever.

"Chaos" means that they've done the above, but specifically devoted their actions to the Dark Powers.

Renegades quite frequently turn to chaos though, they're usually the same thing.
