I dropped 2 Tyrants during my last game, which was at 2k against
BA. One was a Flyrant with
TL Devourer,Lash Whip/Bonesword,and Old Adversary while the other was a normal Tyrant with
TL Devourer,Lash Whip/Bonesword,and Hive Commander[I had two units of outflanking Genestealers in the list,as well],with a single Tyrant Guard. It worked out well for me,as I won by a massacre on turn 5,but we were admittadley playing on a small table[40x48] and opponent made a huge tactical error by setting several units too far up in his deploy zone. I definately want to try that list out again on a standard sized table[with a few tweaks] and with my opponent set up better to see how it will fare.
I think one key to running two Tyrants is that you have to have enough threats out there to screw with the opponent's target priorities. I also ran two Trygon Primes in my list,so I had 4
MC's and my opponent had to decide between the heavy hitters[Trygons] and the not quite as heavy hitters that also buff the army[Tyrants]. I felt that the pacing of the Tyrants worked well. The Flyrant sort of kamikazee'd in and maximized the initial Hormagaunt charge with
OA,and the other hung back and advanced with my Hive Guard to provide synapse. While my opponent was dealing with the Flyrant,2 Trygon Primes,2 Hormagaunt Broods with Toxin Sacs, and 2 broods of 'stealers,he just had nothing left that was any real threat to the other Tyrant, and he just sort of waltzed into his deploy zone and picked the bones.
