Im posting this for a friend. We just started playing warmachine I went Menoth he went Khador. i know where im going to expand next but he doesnt. What should he get next? Keep in mind he s on a budget of about $50 a week. He would liek to get any staples fo his list first b4 he gets the more optional things.

What is the direction your friend wants to take with his collection? What casters catch his eye, does he like infantry, cavalry or jack heavy? Its hard to give good suggestions without any clue on the person's preferences.

Good neutral selections are Widowmakers, Man hunter and war dog. They don't fit to every list, but they are good non expensive pieces of the Khador. All of them have nice figs too, the Widowmaker Kapitan is one of my favorites.

go buy Karchev, and Strakhov as caster
buy behemoth (this + Karchev + Juggernaut from box makes a 15 point jack force)
buy widowmaker( to expand)
buy the plastic box, try to think what to fit in there

that is all really

pVlad is also a really strong Jack caster. S&P and his feat is pretty strong as well.

I've been running this and having alot of success with it at 35 points:

pVlad
Wardog
Beast
Juggy
Kodiak

Widowmaker Marksman
Koldun Lord + Destroyer

Koldun Lord does a really nice job of running the focus hungry Destroyer so it can actually hit something.

I do not have Torch yet, but once I do he may make it into the mix somehow.

im not as jack heavy, cus i like versatility,
i heard so much funness with pVlad.
maybe think of some Greylord Ternions to help make the Jacks hit more often.
i like jacks as well, and i feel my army is just too jack light xD
i only run 2 jacks in my list. but im running a eIrusk list. my Zerkova list im working on runs 2-3 jacks. and im thinking of running a pVlad list next xD

I second the above. All are solid choices for most lists, especially if you build from the Battlebox. A unit of Winterguard would be good if he sticks with Sorcha.

I had the BBox, and to expand I added a Berserker, Widowmakers, 2 Man Hunters, a Greylord Ternion, and a Wardog, with the widowmaker marksman and Eiryss coming later.
I plan to expand a 6-man unit of Winterguard to full with UA and Kovnik Joe, and a Koldun Lord.
Down the road I plan to get a full Ironfang Pikemen with UA and the Great Bears.

An expensive option would be to add Beast-09. That is Sorcha's Character jack.

Bam, said the lady!

with 50$ a week, he should be able to build his force fairly quickly, esp if you guys are going to be playing 15pts to learn the game, and expand slowly from there.

If he is on a tight budget, tell him to keep his eyes on ebay. Sometimes, a great deal comes up that could save you tons of $. I picked up Karchev+behemoth for 35$ from there.

Winterguard, widows, and iron fang pikemen are all solid choices that fit in most lists he will want to make in the future. Damn near every list can benefit from the war dog, the marksman, and manhunters, they are fairly universal.

in a 15pt i would steer away from Winter Guard. i ran a 15pt to learna nd because of funds, i had Sorscha, Destroyer, Juggy, WGi L+9 Officer and Standard, and Jozef. against a decent army list with a big threat(Death Jack) my Winter Guard were murdered. i expanded from the BBox as well. with pSorsch's +6 points you have 11pt army. Wardog and Eiryss would be a cheap addition to make this a 15pt army to learn with. Since he likes Jack look for a pVladimir, and look into some Jacks, definatly check out the Model Summaries on this site. they are amazing.

That is interesting, I ran a 15pt list against cygnar and they half killed a thorn with a single CRA, they werent all in range either. WG are very good because they are cheap, they become very good with their UA granting them +2 DEF, and the spray attacks. I dont think Joe is really that good anymore, but I generally take him as well.

I ran the WG deathstar with the old witch, just chain gallows an important target (like thorn) out of position and into range of your WG swarm. Then CRA it for half it's health. After that, I battering rammed it with a POW20 Marauder swing and slammed it back into a formation of sword knights, destroying the thorn, and killing two sword knights in the process.

They used to be much better when Joe could give them all and extra shot. They can put out a POW24 CRA from 8in away, then sit with DEF14/ARM13.

They are exactly what you want in a low point list, efficiency.

well i suppose the answer came from pSorcha not being the best "jack caster" and well obviously buying a jack caster is the first start to jack force

pSorscha only has 6 focus right? Well regardless Beast-09 is probably a good pick for a warjack in the near future.

The sink.

Beast 09 is one of the best jacks in the game. So is the Behemoth and both are Khador! Get both of those, just not in the same week. And you definitely want a wardog regardless of your caster.

And since your running a lot of jacks, a unit of mechanics would probably be a good idea. They can also fix Karchev.
