Hi all, Im terribly sorry to bother you all about this, but given the recent updates I was dusting off my ancient and inherited dark angels codex and was tinkering with the ravenwing, but saw they had a specific rule saying "no turbo-boosting in scout phase for you!" ala the soup nazi.

Now, I was also trying to remember where in the FAQS it had been covered that everyone else was even allowed to turboboost in THEIR scout phases, I know it's out there!, but I just can't seem to find it now.

So, I'm asking for my friendly Dakka rules lawyers to direct me to the specific FAQ/Errata for the general rule, and then if they could tell me if the FAQ there or anywhere else redacted the strange and unfortunate restriction placed on the Dark Angels.

I skimmed the general section as well as the updated angels but couldn't get my eyes to spot anything relevant.

Thanks for the assistance.

The BRB FAQ states you can turboboost in your Scout move.

DA have a specific restriction from turboboosting, which still applies to them as it si a more specific restriction.

The reason for this? Normal SM only get Scout Bikers that can turboboost. You get full marine bikes, lots of them, and you can call down Scoring, Fearless terminators on turn 1 using the locator beacon. THAT is the most likely reason why you cannot turboboost - the advantage you gain from it is far greater than vanilla SM chapters.

unfortunately, the new erratta/amendments don't change that aspect. There is no restriction in the main rulebook disallowing turboboost scout moves (in addition there is the general FAQ answer that it is possible). The dark angels however have the specific ravenwing restriction that they cannot (granted its a repeat of an old general rule that isn't in the game anymore but that doesn't change the fact that its still in the codex). it sucks but maybe that'll make it into the dark angel v1.2 faq as an erratta/amendment. for now, you (and I) can't turboboost as ravenwing players in the scout move.

Coming back to this, wasn't there some errata made on the universal rule? I could've sworn I could remember reading it on one of the FAQs reading exactly as this

Q: Can units with Scout turboboost during the scout phase?

A: Yes, which can make for some interesting.......[ insert more of their not quite witty one-liners here]

But that does not override your restriction.

The universal rule is that yes, you can turboboost in the scout phase since it in a regular movement.

Your much more specific rule is that DA cannot. Since this rule is more specific, the faq does not apply to you.

As above: the BRB FAQ says you can, in general, turboboost during a scout move.

Your very, very specific codex rule states you CANNOT turboboost, so you CANNOT.

However if you are playing with friends I'm sure this glaring oversight could easily be house-ruled

Except I dont think it is a glaring oversight: after all with your turboboost you can then g'tee to drop in units of fearless, scoring terminators in first turn, and bring them in safely, right next to the enemy.
