So there is the list, the idea he has got going is that he will put Sanguinor with the Deathcompany inside the Stormraven Gunship. Drive that down the field while deep striking his assault squads onto objectives or enemies and using the Devastators to deal with any mech or heavy units.

Feel free to respond so I can let him know if his list is good or crap haha. I suggested trying to have Baal Predators in their somewhere but idk anything about BA so my opinion really doesnt matter to him haha.

My suggestion would be more Assault Squads and fewer Death Company and Devastators in order to take full advantage of the Sanguinors extra-attack aura (and to shield him).

Being the only vehicle in the list (and AV12 at that) the Storm Raven won't last long at all.

I would suggest - if you are basing it around Space Jesus - that you have a solid core of 3 or 4 assault squads with 2x Meltagun (or flamer) and a Powerfist, supported by ML Devastator Squads. This could potentially be a powerful all-infantry force.

In his current list, his Dev's are too varied in equipment to excel at anything in particular and the Drop Pods do nothing but hinder the Dev's as they can't deepstrike and shoot on the same turn.
As I've said, the Storm Raven will be the opponents priority target and go down quickly.
Sanguinor is an expensive option at 1500pts also.

It's not very competitive IMHO, however it has potential...

Hmmm mostly rubbish I'm afriad.

Sanguinor = expensive over priced rubbish with no benefit; just a power house. Add Librarian with jump pack, shield of sanguinus and unleash rage.

Death Co = expensive power house unit which cannot claim objectives.

Assault Marines = good unit but why only a single meltagun when you've got 10 Marines? Double meltas and a power fist when using jump packs!

Devs = good but not in a Drop Pod christ heaven! You come down in the Pod you cannot fire first turn because deep striking counts as moving at cruising speed! Take 4 x missile launchers and have them bunker down.

Storm Raven = expensive but good, but single armoured unit in this army means it will get wasted and quickly.

You desperately needs Priests, well your bro does

* Death company get silly expensive with jump packs. They are much cheaper in a rhino/LR, but that does not fit the synagogal of your army. Drop them if your going the jump pack route

* More melta guns and power fists for your assault squads. Can you find room to stick a 50 point priest in those squads (plus jump pack), as FnP almost doubles their survivability. Can you give your squads plasma guns? With all those ML in your dev's, cracking transports is not your concern. You only need 1 or 2 squads with melta guns to crack AV 14, as you can always just stuff krak gernades down tail pipe of most vehicles.

* Devastators don't need drop pods. When they drop they can't shoot. Just start em on the board. If you get dawn of war, run them to where you want them to fire for the rest of the game. Give them all the same weapon, 4 ML should do the trick.

* The stormraven really feels out of place in your army. Here you are with a ton of jump pack infantry. This makes it harder for the IG player with a ton of LC to make effective target priority. At best he can pluck off a marine -- that is until you give him a nice big vehicle to target. Your stormraven will not last more than a turn, as every anti-vehicle weapon in your opponents army will turn on it.

Either go rhino/razorback rush and keep your DC and stormraven, or drop them and make your army more assaulty

And thats it, as stubborn as he is he sees it being much better than his previous idea. Altough he finds the list repetitive and says he wouldnt like playing with what feels like a spam army. I would say drop Might of Heroes on your Librarian, and go with Unleash Rage. Preferred Enemy is better than 1-3 extra attacks IMO. I would probably put the Librarian in a squad with a Priest so he can benefit from the Blood Chalice.

Yea I'd say it looks pretty good, the RAS wont be assault powerhouses, but they will work decently against most armies. Assault heavy armies will give this list some grief, like khorne demons, "maybe" Nids, and horde Orks. Against mech armies it should do well. Get him to test play it some and he will find what works for him and what doesn't.

List looks loads better and saying something is a spam army is rubbish. When taking the tools for a job you only take the best ones, right? You're not going to take crappy units just to make some variation are you?

Khorne Daemons hit hard but are slow, Angels with jump packs can easily avoid them.

I actually liked the first list, but I would have changed the devastator plasma cannons into missile launchers so the Devs could have a Rhino instead of a drop pod.

^^ +1, I'll give suggestions but their just my opinions and experience from playing this game since 2nd ed.. Above all make sure your enjoying the hobby and game, and having fun trying new things out.

Good points and thanks all, but he has taken a different approach completely in deciding to continue cllecting chaos marines due to the fact he already has a fair amount of them haha
