When you upgrade Grave Guard with great weapons, do those great weapons still count as Wight Blades?

And, would a kind moderator mind moving this to the correct forum? My apologies, should of looked before I clicked.

I would say no, as when you buy them a GW, it replaces their current weapon.

When you upgrade them to carry GW they still have the wight blade rule. First sentance of the Wight blade rule: ANY weapon carried by a grave guard makes magical attacks.

Yeah, well you two certainly found the problem I have. One rule says one thing, another says the other. I doubt anyone's ever had that problem in a tabletop game before.

What does a Wight Blade do again? If it simply means they have magical attacks for any weapon they use, they still have magical attacks; any other bonuses are lost.

The wight blade special rule gives magical attacks and killing blow. The rule also states that it applies to any weapon carried so it would apply to the great weapons too.

Yes, whether Grave Guard have GW, or their regular kit, they are magical and confer killing blow.

Wight Kings have a slightly different rule, which is where maybe some of the confusion lies.

I suggest you don't believe anything posted by thedarkavenger unless confirmed by other regular posters here at Dakka. He has shown he is incapable of basic English comprehension.

T.O.

Well for wight kings its just any "mundane" weapon. So anything you didnt buy from the magic items section of the book.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste

The wights are given the wight blade special rule, the wight blade is not an actual weapon. It just gives the model killing blow and the weapon counts as magical.
