Hi,

I am looking at going in a different direction for a tournament thats taking place in a few months. I was thinking jump pack BAs look interesting and thought you guys at Dakka could give me a helping hand. Here goes:-

Librarian with jump pack (125pts)
I was thinking blood lance / sanguine sword or unleash rage

Honour Guard + jump packs + 4 meltaguns + 4 flamers (225pts)
To accompany librarian and provide some anti-armour/horde punch

Sanguinary Priest + jump pack + meltabombs (80pts)
To provide a second bubble

10 Assault Marines + power fist + 2 meltaguns (235pts)

10 Assault Marines + power fist + hand flamer + 2 flamers (235pts)

5 Scouts + sniper rifles + camo cloaks + missile launcher (100pts)
To sit on home objective

TOTAL = 1000pts

Any thoughts?

Interesting list.

My only concern is the lack of long range AT, but that is a sacrifice you make with Jump BA. I would drop the hand flamer for some more meltabombs though.

I like to see jump pack chaplains with sanguinary priests + 10 man assault squads. They make pretty mean somewhat cheap 12 man units. It's just great that chaplains are elite choice.

B.A. honor guard look sooooo cool. Just I never see them being worth their points considering their not a whole lot better than regular assault marines + buffs. And their unit size is much smaller. They still get shot up just as fast as any other jump pack unit, just they have less bodies.

Librarian + jump pack is sweet though (if the die are with you )

I just recommend dropping that 225 super squad of honor guys. It's about 1/4 of your total army (points wise) and I don't see it making back 225 points or holding objectives or anything. Just my opinion, I've never ran jump pack units yet though >.<

The purpose of argument is informative discourse, not to see who finishes in front.

I like it a lot but I'd say that the Honor Guard is more fit for a 1500 point list. It's just too tight in here. But it is a second FNP bubble, its a tough call really.

You could get a whole extra assault squad with meltas in there instead and just count on your mobility and massed assault to do in hordes.

Also, Unleash Rage and Shield of Sanguinius is the way to go I think, reroll hits on the assault and get some cover as you endure that one horrible turn of crossing the board. You don't absolutely need sanguine sword when you've got some powerfists.

Looking over your list, I would do the following:
- Drop the flamers on the HG, you sheer CC abilities will help you take care of hordes on their own. Also you have the one Ass. Squad full of flames to soften up any hard targets anyway. From there, I would drop the Scouts for a Rifleman Dread (2x TL AC). That will give you some back field firepower. It will be very useful for popping light tanks open as well and allowing your marines to assault the contents. This will leave the Dread Vulnerable though to any flankers, but it will still require some Melta to take him out anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I really don't think that a footslogging dreadnought on its own will survive that long, especially as it will be my only armour on the board.

I see the point about swapping the Honour Guard for another tactical squad. I will gain 5 bodies though lose the second FNP bubble and the ability to deal with anything?!?!?

Any other thoughts?
