i currently have Space Wolves, The Rising Suns (SM), Chaos Space Marine, Dark Eldar, and Orks

Space Wolves are the only completed painted army. I find that i get really bored painting the common troops. Same tired paint job after another with hardly any difference from one another......does that mean maybe you need to scale down

I have at least one army for each of the races bar Dark Eldar. Of those, I have two Chaos Daemon Armies (Mono Tzeentch and Mono Khorne, both built on self-sufficient lists), 4 CSM armies (One for each of the gods), a Tyranid army so large it requires Apoc deployment or split into two FoCs (so technically two armies as well). Court of Young Kings Eldar and Ghostarmy Eldar. Normal SMs that can be used as DA, BA, or Vanilla. Fledgling 13th company. Tau, Guard and Orks. I also have elements of Witch Hunters and Daemonhunters (assassins, priests, Inquisitors, Grey Knights, etc...)

It's poor form to remind us all of how many armies we have and where that money could have gone. To be fair, I have thought similar, but only before I'd really done anything with an army. I thought I should start Flesh Tearers, so I stripped some old Marines and got some stuff for the army, realized I already had three power armor armies, and traded it off for stuff I could actually use. I had Tyranids, realized I like tanks better, and traded them off. Finally, I had Warriors of Chaos, realized I would probably never even play Fantasy, and got more tanks.

Now instead of three armies full of crap I'll never paint, I have a stupid amount of Imperial Guard. Welp.

I have never thought I had too many armies.

My WIFE on the other hand.. she wonders constantly.

My stated goal is to have one army for each current playable codex with no proxies.. and the Space Marines only count for the vanilla codex. I have no desire to run SW, AND BA, AND DA, AND etc..

And I am darn close to it.. but thanks to GK coming up.. I think I am going to be losing ground.

well Ive collected and played almost every army at somepoint or other, but the only two ive had since my start to now is space wolves and highelves. I do quite often have a look in the basment storage, realize how many of the boxes there are full of sprues and think...I have wayyyy to many bits lol

Not me personally (just starting ) but at my FLGS one of the guys has 22 armies. Such a bad combination, being inside GW at payday

Rather than lots of armies, I have stupid amounts of Eldar (at least 18,000 points), Marines (I estimate 9-10,000 points) and a few Orks (maybe 2500 points, but not really a very balanced army, just lots of bits and pieces). Oh, and a handful of Squats. And a Tyrant's Legion. Oh, and more Epic than I can fit in my flat - Titans, Marines, IG, Eldar, Orks and Squats - so it is in my parent's loft. And Dark Elves, also at my parents. And Orcs. And WoC. Er...

ive only been gaming for 4 years and now i have seen a list of what ive got im shocked due to the amount i must have spent

I decided that I had too many armies hlfway through my first army a couple of years ago. So I dropped it until last summer, when I finished it while I wasworing on my second army. Then I went through my leftovers from 2nd & 3rd edition and put together a competent third army, and then refitted my old Dark Eldar for the new Codex, and am now working on a fifth army... and that doesn't include the fully painted Eldar army that was donated to start me up playing right away. So I have five armies too many already, and am working on a sixth...

Tried to slow down adding new armies.
Really.
So I did NOT do a SW, DE or Nid army.

But then GW updated BT and DA. Considered regrouping the models into new lists.
Evaded buying more marines tough. Was close...

GK in spring/summer OTOH.
Must resist, must resist, must resist,...

I have a Ork army, Eldar army, and i'm getting a Tau, and an IG army, and i have Lizardmen, and High elves for fantasy battle, and i don't think that's too many, but others might.

In the past 12 months I've started and then sold off before I got in too deep:
- Warriors of Chaos
- Tyranids
- Flesh Tearers

And that's the closest I've gotten to "I have too many armies." It's more fun to buy more tanks for my Guard anyway

Play every army but Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons......so, no.

It's best to not think about it

I have a 2500~ point Necron army and now I'm collecting Tyranids and when I look back on how much I spent on Necrons... well lets say I like to forget about that and keep collecting. It's a fun hobby, but it is expensive. At least it's MOSTLY initial cost and then you can use the army for years to come.

try not to think about it much. will never be able to get my money back out of them so just limit the purchases these days to the odd mini and foam for all this gak so it doesnt loom like a group of homeless people stashed their gak in my suv when i go to the game shop and i have less breakage.
