Hey everyone. My girlfriend and I have started playing Warmahordes and through our flurry of purchases (our warpacks, an extra caster and an extra jack/warbeast) and we've found that the cards we got with our non warpack models are from mk1. Are they still usable with mk2 or do we need to buy our respective stat decks and/or our army books? For what it's worth, we've only used the quick start rules (our rulebooks are coming in tomorrow!) so we aren't super familiar with the system.

And if anyone was curious, she grabbed Cryx and had to have the Nightmare jack and I'm playing Circle Orboros.

Any other tips you guys might be able to throw our way is appreciated as well.

The Mk1 cards are not compatible with Mk2. The point system was radically changed and in the transition between version all of the models went through field test and the abilities along with stats were tweaked for better balance.

To play you need to get the updated stats, I would suggest getting the faction decks as it is easier to play with cards than to play with the books.

While you can just pick up your stat deck, your LGS SHOULD have had the opportunity to get free stat decks just for this reason. Ask to see if they've got spare Mk.2 cards first.

It seems as though I'm going to need to pick up the stat decks. The LGS isn't friendly enough to hand out free cards. I hate shopping at this particular store, but they're the only gaming store around that has Warmachine/Hordes.

Well thanks for the help though

Out of curiosity, how far off are the quick start rules from the full range of rules?

THANK YOU! $4.85 for the cards we need with shipping! That beats the hell out of $40 for both decks!

Or, you can I what I just did. I called PP and told them about recieving a mk1 card and they said that they would send me a mk2 card for free. I don't know what they would do for you (I can't tell if you just bought your models or you've had them for a while) but you can give it a try.

PP will replace MK1 cards in purchases for no cost.

Shoot them an email from the website.

At the same point in time, the faction decks are a good investment anyways.... they give you the full range of cards for every model pre-Mk2, which will let you try units and warjacks by proxying, rather than buying the model and hoping you made the right choice. Wargaming is an expensive hobby anyways, and I prefer to make good buying decisions when it comes to little toy soldiers. If I can proxy a unit for a few games to see if I like it before buying, all the better.
