What do you people think of a pure death compan troops based army. Lots of jump packs and storm ravens?
Could some oen give me a build please. I really appreciate the help.

Well you have to take Astaroth if you want more than one DC so there's your HQ.

LeMartes is an awesome unit upgrade so be sure to take him as well.

If you want a list write up you'll nee to give us a point total to shoot for.

+1.And don't forget that you can take a DC Dreadnought for every 5 DC you have on the field. This is stating the obvious a bit,but you will have to bear in mind that to win a game, you need to table your opponent. They may be troops, but they are not scoring units.

It won't be competetive.

I plan on building my truescale marines in a similar fashion, but this is mostly to save on building so many models, and because tanks would look silly with my marines (seriously, they look silly enough at the scale of normal marines, truescalies would only make it worse)

Here's what I have planned:

HQ
Astorath The Grim - 220

Honour Gaurd (jump packs, 4*melta, 4*plasma) - 265

Troops
7*Death Company (jump packs, 1*powerfist, 1*power sword) - 285
Lemartes - 150

7*Death Company (jump packs, 1*powerfist, 1*power sword) - 285

Fast Attack
5*Vangaurd Veterans (jump packs, 2*powerfists, 3*lightning claws, 2*storm shields) - 285

Although it'll in no way be competetive, and barely competent.

Really, a full DC army is just hard to do properly. Moreso with jet packs, since they're that much harder to transport.

I think you should really take the dreads as pedro suggested. Fleet and None can Stay my Wrath really works great.

Using blood talons will depend on your enemy. But it is usually a good idea if you have a meltagun and magna-grapple

Dreads--take at least 3!!

I have seen a successful DC list, but it is difficult at best to control. At first glance they are amazing, but in order to give them a chance of success you have to find A. A means of controling them, be it Land Raider, Drop pod, Storm raven, Rhino..etc. That will help you overcome their rage flaw. then you have to realize your army is going to be small due to the fact that DC are more pricey then others. Personally I would take Lemartes, 5 DC and DC dreadnought into a Storm Raven and let them Rain hell on folks. but that is just me.

You can't control any objectives with it, you can only contest. Owch.

That being said, at 20 points a pop, individual DC are amazing. Once you start tricking them out, that changes dramatically

If I were to design an all DC army, it would look something like this at 2k

Hq

Astorath

Elite

Chaplain

Troops

DC squad x 10
p fist, p weapon

DC squad x 11
p fist, p weapon

DC squad x 5
p fist

DC dread x 3
H flamer, Blood Talons

Heavy
StormRaven x 3
Twin linked Multi-melta, Extra Armor

All three squads in the ravens. 10 man squad with astorath, 11 man squad with the elite chaplain, 5 man squad in the other batting cleanup and assisting in combats where necessary.
You don't even need the third DC squad. You could just put in a 5 man assault squad with a fist or something so you actually have something that scores. I think it might be a pretty fun army unless all of your ravens go down first turn. Then you will have a :(

Ah, there we go. Replace the last DC squad with a lib so you can have shield up if you don't go first. Money!

This. if you want to go for the tabling each game, that's what you'll need to do to win. And even then, a tabling isn't always a massacre, depending on which tournaments you play. For a friendly game, though, go all out!

I like Dok's list - it is very fast and very hard hitting. I would run one squad with jump packs (Lemartes' squad) in a Stormraven with a DC dread attached... That will be your fast unit in case your Stormravens all are nuked.
