So, thats fairly self explanatory, I've decided to convert some cold one knights into exodite dragon riders, but don't know whether to play them as jetbike guardians or shining spears. For those with more gaming experience, I turn to you and ask- which should I choose?

In terms of the fluff and artwork, I would say to go with Shining Spears, as they have the lances. However, the Guardian Jetbikes are a better unit in most armies.

I have Cold One Knights that I use for Shining Spears.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

I'd have to say Shining Spears too if you give them spears. Maybe crossbows from normal Dark Elves for Guardian Jetbikers?

I like the idea of shining spears, especially s6 lances and power weapons etc, but is it worth the points cost?

Thing is with Shining Spears, you're paying Terminator costs for something that has marginally better survivability than a marine. Guardian Jetbikes are alot cheaper and can cap objectives.

Keep in mind that dinosaurs don't look like anti-grav vehicles with turbo boost, so it is always a stretch that has to be accepted by the opponent.

I normally play friendly games, and I've seen a fair amount of leeway for the counts as idea, mostly so people can try new units etc. I appreciate the concern but I'm no tournament player so I think it'll work.
Besides, who doesn't like space elves on dinosaurs?

I'd go for the Shining Spears as well. I've always loved the Exodites, and made four different versions of them for different iterations of my 2nd edition army.
