I really love it, I am a sucker for anything new and walker-ish, brought on my my titan obession (two warhounds currently in prduction, named Loki and Thor), do you reckon this is an acceptable basilisk? (nothing league like, just friends and local gaming club)
Anyone know what it looks like compared to 40k? My biggest worry is the size of the guns, as 40k does have a tendency to go for a stupid sized calibre

Isn't a basalisk an artillery piece, like a howitzer? The guns on that Dust walker are direct fire weapons like you'd find on a main battle tank.

Somewhere in south-central England.

The 152mm howitzer was a howitzer.

It was used in a direct fire mode in the SU-152 self-propelled anti-tank gun because the massive size of the shell would destroy any tank.

However, there were also actually artillery howitzers as shown here...

The Dust model is the Weird War 2 equivalent of the SU-152 but it could easily represent a self-propelled artillery howitzer if the guns can be elevated near to 45 degrees.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Word.....

OP are you going to mount it on a tracked vehicle, chimera etc or use it as is? If you use it as is, just for 'mates' games, then as long as they are fine with it no worries. You can use a bean can and a straw in thst case! It will be a 'count as' either way.

Great model!

It now mounts two 152 mm ML-20S guns: the biggest weapons found on the Eastern Front.

How is a walker with two huge cannons similar to a basilisk?

Perhaps if it had one cannon, there would at least be a point of commonality, but as is...

... especially since those look like direct-fire guns, rather than anything that could be elevated to fire indirectly.

I'd say no. It looks to have a much smaller footprint than the basilisk, making it harder to hit / assault & easier to get cover.

Hydra.

Use it as one. It would make much more sense rules-wise.

A Hydra has two (twin-linked) Autocannons. The twin-linking can be handwaved with some fluff about advanced targeting software, or it just fires a LOT of bullets.

If it had a base the same footprint as a Chimera Hull I'd be fine with it. I reckon you could find a better rules/appearance match than a Basilisk mind....

Indeed this model would be a very good counts as Hydra.

I vote for the Hydra but nothing like a Basilisk. Of course if your friends are ok with it then go ahead. But if you are worried about capturing the look and feel of a basilisk this just doesn't do it.

Or it could just be an earthshaker cannon.

If it only has 1 cannon , it would really look good as earthshaker but as others have mentioned , dual cannons looks like a hydra. Snip the barrel off and make a targeter maybe?

you know he's not going to be fielding the girl right?

@Op: I'd be fine with it. I can see it deploying in an almost Star craft Siege tank way. If you really want a basi's feel though, then I would go with one barrel.

Or, just angle the gun upwards so it looks like an indirect fire cannon.

I'm guessing it's about the right height for a IG Basilisk/Hydra? You could get around the chassis size problem by putting it on a Basilisk/Hydra-sized base, perhaps.
