Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

Do you HAVE to have first turn?

Do you use Vect?

The Baron?

...or your own home-grown HQ's without 1st turn bonuses.

How do you protect your vehicles in the event you go second.

Cover, turning some raiders sideways to cover others

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

Going first for DE is pretty critical IMO with mech. Setting up to go first then getting seized is devastating as well.

Games I play against DE when they have first turn, I usually get overwhelmed before I have a chance to respond, but if I go first its a turkey shoot. DE raiders are SO easy to kill. Overlapping raiders doesnt help because you just keep shooting the ones in front with no cover. Reserving doesn't help because then your army is coming in piecemeal.

On moon miranda.

If you don't get 1st turn and aren't deploying extremely defensively or reserve denying your force, if playing against an opponent with a solid shooting component, then chances are you may lose. If playing against something like Mech IG and you get seized on, it's almost assuredly game over as there's every possibility that you will lose every vehicle they can see and lots of infantry as well.

However, if you don't get first turn and are playing against a very CC oriented MEQ army, or something like Tyranids, you probably aren't all that boned, you may even be in a superior position in some cases with the last turn of the game going to you.

Turn order importance really depends on the type of opponent, the shootier they are, the more DE need that first turn. If it's something like mech IG, I'd say it's critical to victory. If they aren't really very shooty then 1st turn probably won't matter too much.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.
