I've looked for a while for this, so apologies if I've missed the answer to this.

I'm looking to start a Tankovy batalion, and the obvious infantry addition seems to be a tank rider company. In the East Front book, this is basically a bunch of rifle/mg teams.

1. What figures do you use to represent them? The only infantry seems to be the "motostrelkovy or strelkovy platoon", which is listed as early, mid, and late...is this what people use?
2. What is the difference in basing a rifle team and a rifle/mg team? The page in the book that tries to explain this doesn't make much sense to me.

Thanks

1. Standard russian infantry is correct. I'm using the SMG team blister for my tank riders (late war - river of heroes). There are no tank rider specific models.

2. A rifle team is all rifles (unsurprising!), a rifle/mg team is 3-4 rifles and 1 MG model on a base. This was always a bit of a mystery to me as well but it got clarified in the new d-day books finally.

Rifle/MG team= Rifle men with 1 light machine gun.

The Lieutenant is a Punk! And a pretty 2nd rate Punk at that.......

These guys all have smgs though, they also don't seem to come with actual bases of infantry like the German Begleits do.

That's Tankodesantniki though powerslave84, which are an option for tanks as opposed to the footslogging tank rider companies who are more flexible. IIRC when tanks die, Tankodesantniki are killed too as they are treated as part of the vehicle.

I've always based my rifle/mg teams as half having an LMG and half being all rifles. Historically, a british rifle squad had 6 riflemen, 1 bren gunner and 1 assistant, and 2 ncos. In FoW it's represented as 2 rifle/mg teams.

Hi yes i am the same as specs both my german and brits are one base with 2/3 rifles and an mgplus loader and the other base is 4 as a german gren squad was 9 man 1 nco to 2 man mg team and 7 rifles

i play alot of 28mm squad based ww2 and this is much more detailed and so carried on from there alothough panzer grens with the half tracks are 10 man squads with 2 nco 2 2man mg teams and 4 rifle men so more like the FoW set up
