Ok. so the BRB is pretty clear. If a mounted character joins a unit of fast cavalry, it loses the special rule "light cavalry" if the character doesn't already have the rule.
For whatever slowed reason GW decided to do this. Screw them anyway. Here's how we go back to having our Mounted character nearly impossible to hit.
Take 2 units of light cavalry, and one Character on a horse. This character is usually a wizard full of seething hatred and the fury of 1000 suns.
1) Move the first unit of light cavalry (using their light cav movement rules to wherever you want the unit to be)
2) Move the Character out of his current light cav unit, and INTO the already moved light cavalry unit.
3) move the now vacated unit of light cavalry wherever you want it to go.

1st – Nice catch. Stick it to 'em
2nd – This still requires that you have two units of fast cav on the same flank. Thus i wouldn't mind having the enemy do this as it limits his harassing abilities.

Maybe it's because I play skaven and thus have no cavalry, but what's the point exactly?

I guess...
I just don't see what you're accomplishing. Getting both units a vanguard move or something?

Because a mage in a unit of light cav harassing a flank is terrificly tough to deal with, if the unit has free-reform type movement. Automatically Appended Next Post: HoverBoy wrote:1st – Nice catch. Stick it to 'em

1) Thanks
2) Typically, only one flank is being harassed in a game... Normally the other is being met with force. Having 2 cav units that can make Light-cav type moves is usually about perfect to lock down an entire flank long enough to bring the battlefront to bear in any sort of aggressive manner.

Well, one flank is being harassed and the other is being charged if...ya' know...you're performing a refused flank. For some of us with larger armies, that can be a bit tough. Then again, Skaven don't have any Cavalry.
