Was wondering which faction is the funnest to play and the one i will likely not get bored of for a long time with very characterful units both with fluff and sculpt/rules.

I'm fine with any play style!

The only army i would not want to get would be khador because my brother is collecting that one.

Thanks!

errr. I am not sure how to. Really just looking for player's opinions on what they think is the funnest army to play with and is the most diverse in terms of having a wide range of units to choose from and different themed armies to sue.

I love Khador, sadly you don't want to play them

Retribution can be fun, It can turtle, It can move quickly , It can do terrible terrible thing to your enemy

Menoth is filled with shenanigans so is Cryx

as for Hordes, I only play Legion, which is an adrenaline rush to play

Trolls...they are said to be the only 'good' faction in the whole mess.

...and a Beer-centric caster...'nuff said. (talking about Borka )

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Could i have some more in depth reasons please x]? Thanks! I do appreciate the responses though. Haha if i were to get trolls i would definitely paint them like orcs because i really like them from the 40k and fantasy!

Wait, you want in-depth reasons but give no in-depth explanations? I kid!

I like Menoth because of its attrition death trigger style play. Do this to me? No
you can't. Why? You killed that dude. That means I get these bonuses. Etc.

I also love the warrior model synergy of trolls.

For 'jack beatings Karchev (Khador!) seems like a lot of fun. Kraye (Cygnar) turns
his 'jacks into cavalry which seems very different from any other 'caster. Mortenebra
has one of the sickest theme forces in the game with all the things she needs to run
crab jacks all day long

Beast heavy? Try Saeryn or eThagrosh (Legion).

We need to know more.

That's the beauty about this game. Every faction has a wide variety of tactics and strategies to use because every warlock/caster brings something new to the table. What it really should come down to is what looks good to you. What models do you like best? Personally, I liked the look of the dragonspawn so I went with Legion. With Legion I can play a range oriented army that will ping you to death from afar, or I can run a melee oriented army that can tear right through your lines without you being able to stop them. I can play a mix with crazy movement shenanigans to increase the threat range of my beasts by 5 or more inches. I can run an all beast army or a magic-wielding troop-heavy army. So first, decide which game you wanna play (Warmachine or Hordes), then figure out which army appeals to you. After that you can go more in-depth into what the faction has available. If you decide that they are not for you, keep looking.

Actually the info about factions you gave Malfred is exactly what i'm looking for. Sorry about the lack of info as i'm not too sure myself what i'm looking for.

Looking at the models i would preferably not want trollbloods or skorne. I don't want khador as well because my brother has it.

Just looking for descriptions of what the armies can do. The main thing that they are known for and the type of abilities that help them do it such as cygnar and their range. I'm looking for a model range that doesn't have a lot of detail (or if it does then low model count as i don't have a very large attention span for painting)

All of the PP models have a lot of detail; but I'm guessing you're looking for models without a lot of fine detail. For example, the Circle faction can be insanely fun to play, but you'll probably drive yourself crazy painting all those runes and armor details.

Allow me to suggest the Dwarves...they're part of the Mercenary faction, and are most commonly played under an army list called the "Searforge Commission." In contrast to most of the other factions' models, the detail on the models is much broader/simpler, and so should be much easier and faster to paint than all the other factions.

One caveat, though...Mercenaries do not have as many options as the "main" factions, so you won't have as many different options for army builds.

Okay i think i know what i would like (I am also open to trollbloods after looking at them again XD. If they come in plastic i may be able to orkify them)

I would like a hard hitting army. I mean toughness wise. Synonymous to the khador warjacks. Or an army with a few hard hitting units with a few support units.

Privateer Press isn't like GW...almost all of the models are metal. Of the few plastic models, the plastic PP uses is more like resin to work with. There is one infantry unit of Trollbloods in plastic, the Fennblades(which are a great unit.)

I play Trolls, and they are a lot of fun. Very hard hitting, and literally tough...every single model in the faction has the "tough" special ability, which means that when they're killed, on a 5-6 die roll they have a chance to shrug it off and stay alive with one wound. Some of the dire trolls are quite like Khador jacks in toughness, and with buffs from the army can actually exceed Khador armor in some circumstances.

Sounds cool. I'll look into the trollblood rules some more later on. I heard privateerpress was going to start converting more kits to plastic. Did i hear wrong? Thanks for the input.

I know PP has had some manufacturing issues, so they've actually released some models in metal that were originally intended to be plastic.

They have converted a few of the older warjack models to plastics(primarily the models included in the starter boxes) but there have been no announced plans to do the same for Hordes models. And the 120mm base giant models that are coming out later this year are going to be a combination of resin and metal parts. So I'm basically saying, don't hold your breath for an all-plastic army.

Haha. No worries DrunkenBoxer. As long as they are not similar to the gw metal models i will be alright.

I think look a little further into trollbloods. However i can only get models from my brother in the summer when he comes back so i can only get them then or wait till next Christmas. I have no access to an online trollbloods book so could i get any pointers on what models would be good for a 15 pt army? I'm looking for a strong melee army. Or is the battle box good enough? (My lgs stopped selling warmachine a long time ago because it wasn't profitable for them but they still have models from their last batch which are collecting dust on their hooks near the corner of the store. Luckily for me they have a trollbloods battlegroup thats who knows is how old. They have not made a new one right?)

It might have the old MKI cards in it like my Legion battle box did. If that's the case, you need to get the MKII cards. I would suggest ordering the deck online somewhere, or just see if your LGS could order it for you. The Trollbloods box comes with 1 Warlock who is pretty melee oriented, 2 Troll Impalers which are ranged and I think 1 Axer, all of which are light beasts. The Axer is melee as well. They are still all pretty nasty, though. Also, if you get the deck, you can try new combinations of beasts and warlocks by proxying. That way you'll know what you wanna buy next.

The Trollbloods battlebox is good in that all the models are useful, as long as you like Madrak as a warlock. There aren't any dire trolls(heavy warbeasts) in the box, though, so if you're looking for the equivalent of heavy warjacks you'll need to get those models separately. If you get the battlebox and they have the old cards, contact Privateer Press and they should send you the new cards to replace them.

If you're looking for a strong melee army, some of the casters you might want to look at are Madrak, Epic Madrak, Grissell, and Borka Kegslayer. And if you want to run around with a warcaster and a bunch of the Dire Trolls, epic Doomshaper is your Troll as he's great at running the Trollblood heavies.

An awfully good place to start with Trollbloods is in this article from the Privateer Press forums: http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?29584-Trollblood-Toolbox-Where-to-Start. It talks about the starter box, and how to expand from there.

There's also great writeups of the different warlocks, beasts, units and solos here: http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?28499-For-Kith-and-Kriel-Your-Guide-to-All-Things-Trollblood

I just put away my Trolls for a load of minions both Farrow and Blindwater (I needed a change). Now Blindwater is fun with swamp popping up and Wrastlers tossing models around and some of the new models ( well the Spitter is an epic sculpt) and the older models ( gotta love wrongeye and snapjaw) are great. That aside it is a new faction so it will grow with you as newer models are released. Farrow is a bit weak still - nice models but easy to roll over. Blindwater has a few problems with high def although Calaban can get around that with parasite somewhat. Still both are fun.

Now having played other factions I do still like my trolls and retribution ( so many shenanigans and great for both assassination and scenario). In the end pick up the faction with the models you really like the look of. I play to have fun. Winning is always nice but play with a set on you and don't worry too much.
