Hi All, Green Eyed Minis is launching its website today and we hope you can stop by and take a look. www.greeneyedminis.com Our vision is to make huge armies available to everyone and to recapture the glory days of when gaming tables groaned under the weight of the forces amassed on them. No more will you be forced to fight games with a few dozen figures on each side; Green Eyed Minis is all about getting big armies on to your gaming table. Our first range is the Dwarven Empire which is currently marching to war across our gaming tables at GEM HQ. The army has all the core elements you need to build a formidable force and new regiments are being worked on as we speak, so reinforcements are due soon. Not only that but our second army will be available in March. Thanks for looking and good gaming.

It's an interesting aesthetic you have there, very 80's/90's WFB. It is not for me, but I wish you luck in finding an audience.
Cheers!

Well, Ill wish you luck. Youve jumped into a pretty saturated market...theres several good games out already, WHFB, Kings of War, etc.
Your prices seem similar to GW stuff, so you dont have that going for you.
That leaves the minis and/or the rules to make you stand out.

+1 on above....the models look okay but from the looks of it the only thing you really got going for you is dwarves.....
At this price point I prefer the GW sculpts, however given the quality and price of what the Avatars of War Dwarves it looks like most would be pretty hard pressed to not pick those up instead.....this is all hypothetical, and if I was remotely interested in yet another take on fantasy dwarves.
To me this is white noise and another game I wont have time for but I wish you the best. Maybe try some more unique races? That seems to have have worked well for PP.

Actually, sarcasm, and the detection thereof, is a fairly complex topic. Not understanding sarcasm, over the net or even in person, is relatively common.
Detection of sarcasm is sufficiently complex that it develops quite late during a child's development, typically appearing at age six. That said, even at this point the child can only detect sarcasm (i.e., that the message is opposite the words); understanding that sarcasm is connected to humour does not typically occur until age ten.
Naturally, abnormal development can impair or completely block sarcasm recognition; autism spectrum disorder is the usual culprit. Brain injury can also inhibit detection of sarcasm, as the mechanisms responsible are housed in a specific area of the brain. The right brain*, oddly enough, even though the left hemisphere is usually responsible for language. This leads to the rather unusual conclusion that you respond to sarcasm better if you hear it with your left ear.
That sarcasm exists in all societies is not terribly surprising. However, what is strange is that at least one method of expressing sarcasm, inverse pitch obtrusion**, appears in all languages. This suggests that the mechanisms for sarcasm are hard wired in the human brain.
Finally, although most of us can identify sarcasm at the time of experiencing it, studies show that a good portion of the population is simply mistaken about what consitutes sarcasm when asked to provide an example.
Sarcasm is a deep and complex topic, and fruitful grounds for linguists and psycologists who are only beginning to understand it.***

Eighteen pounds a Regiment...?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what GW charges? I might pay a tenner, but to be perfectly honest, I could get the same number of models from Mantic in one of their dwarf army sets as you offer in yours, and theirs is thirty pounds cheaper, and better sculpted to boot.

Ketara, to be fair, they're all metal versus the plastic of Mantic.
Still too much for me as well. I won't pay GW prices for a product that is not completely compatible with GW games.
Anyway, best of luck.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |

I see. You are correct.
Unfortunately, that only makes it worse, the only time I'd be investing in metal is if it was of superior sculpting.
I can't see that here.
I genuinely wish you chaps all the best of luck, but I honestly feel you're attempting to push an inferior product for superior prices, and your sales will suffer accordingly.

+1 on this. Dwarfs, elfs, undead, orcs & goblins, etc have already been done to death. Something new might put you into a good place. Grab a Dungeons & Dragons monster manual. Plenty of ideas you could pull from. Kobolds, bugbears, driders, elementals...all could make good armies.

I like your dwarf aesthetic, Loving the head gear with middle eastern/persian styling, they look pretty good.
Your background is pretty formulaic with some okay twists.
Whilst I am not in the market for a any fantasy armies at the moment I will bookmark your site, and keep an eye on hat you produce.
And whilst dwarfs, elves, undead have been done to death they are still some of the most popular races out there so, I guess, you will still find some sales for not being unique.
Good Luck

It looks like you've struck an interesting balance between GW's Dwarf and Chaos Dwarf aesthetics from the 90's. Not a bad look, and the models are pretty well sculpted, all things considered.
However, the pricing is a bit steep. I understand that a new/small company needs to recoup its costs, but when you're competing against Games Workshop and Mantic, you have to offer either a superior product or superior value to wrest people away from the leaders in the market. Alternatively, you can work to fill in the gaps left by Games Workshop and Mantic, specifically those fantasy staples that they haven't tackled.

Thank God he's back. Automatically Appended Next Post: And on an on-topic note, I have to add my voice to the "no" crowd. Pricey, and not to quality. I like the handgunner's, but really only because I have a predisposition toward them. Good luck.

I think they will appeal to those who are not huge fans of assembling plastic models. When it comes to WFB, that includes me, since all the plastic assembly seems to get me is units that don't rank up as I get too creative. I like the sculpts, and while they are similar in price to GW for line regiments, they would be half as much for things like Beastagors.
I would agree with the "create some new armies", though dwarves with turbans counts as new for me. If they are going to do the standard races, giving each one a new twist like that will help them sell, IMHO.

The sarcasm debate belongs in another thread please.
You are not being fair to the OP.
Am not keen on oriental Dwarves but I guess that is down to my narrow occidentirc centric mythical worldview.
Have to echo what the others have said unfortunately.
I wish you the best of luck with the venture though and will keep an eye on the future developments.
