My favorite so far has been: 1500. Games play out smoothly, theres time to look up rules, and those decked out special characters have a higher survivability rate, allowing for epic fights between retinues and leaders

I've been playing since third edition and this is what I've noticed

a) More people show up since they can afford to buy in to a smaller tournament( $50-100 investment every 250 points)

b) Painting armies is a b****, the smaller point tournaments allow painters with not a lot of time on their hands to get at least the 3 basic colors and basing on their figures vs someone who has a lot of time on their hands and can have an army painted in a month.

c) Did I mention numbers? Smaller point tournaments attract more new people, so if there are enough tables, grand prizes and profits for the store would be higher. (where I play this does not apply as the tournaments almost always fill up.)

After you fill your HQ, 2 troops, sac melta/assault elements....1500 really doesn't give you enough points to play around with.

I like 1850 because it gives a little extra room for padding. At 1500 the lists are very lean and whittled down to the basics. Granted, this meant my 4th ed 1500 'nid list was absolutely mean, but you can purchase fluffy, suboptimal things without neutering your army at 1850.

2K, 1.5K, 1K in that order.

2K gives me room for all my stuff!

1850 or 2000 for me.

I like a good 1500 point tourney too, but 2k is my favorite.

1750, but our local bunker is running all 1500 for the time being. 1500 is growing on me.
