They are very nice overall; however they do suffer a bit from Christmas syndrome. It's common among Deathwing; they sometimes look a bit like Christmas ornaments. In other words, the RED IS REALLY REALLY BRIGHT. The green is okay, but did I mention the RED IS REALLY REALLY BRIGHT?

I don't mean to be overly critical; they really are well done. It's just that THE RED . . . no, I'll stop.

My first army was Dark Angels (2nd Ed!), and I had to re-paint my Deathwing to cure them of Christmas syndrome. I painted the weapons black.

I agree with pzbv7z. Red is too bright. Otherwise good job!

Thanks for the comments!

Greens mixed with reds always do give a "festive" look don't they.

I think I'll try the devlan mud wash, if I don't like the outcome I'll try switching to red gore/ blood red HL instead of the blood red/ orange HL. That should do the trick.

Cheers

Welcome to Dakka! I have a soft spot for Dutch folks; my wife and I spent part of our honeymoon in your fair land, and it's also the only other country where I've played Warhammer (brought some models along on a business trip).

Your DW are gorgeous! The bone color is really nice- clean and smooth. The two faces are also quite good.

I agree about the red- Devlan Mud may do it, and if it doesn't, switching to a red gore base/blood red highlight will. I also like going with scab red for my purity seals.

The only other area where I'd like to offer a little constructive criticism is the bases. The larger rocks and static grass are excellent, but for my taste the overall size of the smaller rocks is just too big. It doesn't look like ground cover, it looks like they're standing on an pile of big gravel. I'd recommend a smaller-grain rock mixed in with sand for a more natural look.

Re-basing the terminator librarian on a 40mm will look nicer; he's a little shorter, but you could mount him on a rock or something and easily make up for that.

Excellent, smooth paint job, and the subtle battle damage on the Power Fists is ace. Really just wows me!

2 thumbs up!
