I just got started with my necrons, which are going to be pure white dipped in Walnut varnish. I'm looking for suggestions on really unique bases. Something different than snow, grass, or sand.

My ideas thus far include:

Acrylic bases with quartz debris
Rusted iron disks with rusted debris
Something 3D printed, but what, I don't know.

Whatever I do decide to make, I'll cast and duplicate to fill out the ranks. Anything's on the table right now, so I'll happily take suggestions.

Or, you could go with one of the many manufacturers of cast resin bases...

I could, but where's the fun in that? The biggest enjoyment I get out of Warhammer is building and painting.

What Army?
What sort of environment are you thinking of?

All sound good ideas but is hard to advise at the moment
without anything more specific.

Any environment is fine, I'm just looking for ideas. It's a Necron army, painted pure white and dipped in dark walnut varnish. The Gauss gun/crystals are going to be clear plexiglass.
