Ok guys,
So I've been painting for nearly two years now and well, need to expand my horizons. So, I've gotten myself an airbrush, made about 10 Truescale Marines and now I need the obvious thing... the paint. So, in tradition of expanding my horizons which paint is better... Reaper Masters or GW Paints???

If you can't beat 'em... join 'em. If they won't let you, well then you're screwed.

Of those 2 I'd go with Reaper. Vallejo and Reaper are neck and neck for me, GW is behind in quality. The only thing GW worth buying for paint anymore are foundations(which Vallejo now offers in the Game Color range) and washes.

I rarely use GW paints. Overpriced and underquality. Reaper, or Tamiya are my favorites.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
If you're airbrushing, absolutely look into Tamiya. The whole paint range is designed for airbrushing. They sell an acrylic thinner to reduce the paints with, and I use it just to thin down my old pots when they start geting thick.

Reaper also has about three times the color selection, too.

How does the Privateer P3 paint line compare overall in other people's experience? I've only used a few, and found the metallics underwhelming but the browns and greens nice.

I agree about the metallics ...I'd say GW or Vallejo Model Color make the best metallics, but otherwise I think the P3 line is absolutely the best.

Vallejo model air metallics are the best metallics I have ever seen. You can brush them on just as well, even with one coat. The pigments are super tiny and they really look almost like real metal.

GW has silver down perfect. Probably the only paint they make that is worth the extra dollar.

I use VGC shining gold and Reaper Pro Series Dragon Gold as well as RPS Bright Gold.

K so a few questions.... is there like a GW to Reaper equivilent chart? Like Blood Red (GW) would equal to Blood Red (RMS)

I've just started using Vallejo paints which i got cheaper than GW paints and they are amazing, so much better
