Here is a list I am tinkering with that I think has a good game against many lists while still providing a decent defense against Missile lists that will be even more noticeable with DA and BT being recently re-done:

CCS w/ 3x Meltagun, Chimera 135
Witchhunters Inquisitor Lord w/ Psychic Hood 65

5x Imperial Guard Stormtroopers w/ 2x Meltagun, Chimera 160

Platoon Command Squad w/ 3x Meltagun, Chimera 115
Squad w/ Lascannon, Chimera 125
Squad w/ Lascannon, Chimera 125
Heavy Weapon Squad w/ Autocannons 75
Heavy Weapon Squad w/ Autocannons 75

Veterans w/ 3x Meltagun, Chimera 155

5x Witchhunters Stormtroopers w/ 2x Plasmaguns 70
5x Witchhunters Stormtroopers w/ 2x Plasmaguns 70

Vendetta 130
Vendetta 130

Leman Russ Exterminator (autocannons) w/ Plasma Sponsons 190
Leman Russ Exterminator (autocannons) w/ Plasma Sponsons 190
Leman Russ Exterminator (autocannons) w/ Plasma Sponsons 190

Total: 2000

I feel like some things are maybe missing or unecessary, but the proof will come with serious testing. I am positive I want the WH troops (they can jack a ride from several options and are obsenely undercosted), but not sure how necessary that psychic hood is. I can use the vendettas for the classic first turn melta drop, or I can even put in some troops and make them scoring depending on scenario and army.

The three Leman Russ can be deployed in different ways based on the needs dictated by my type of opponent. Against missile lists they can take the front and cover (or even obscure) the chimera payloads. Against an army like DoA BA they can castle down and get surrounded by layers of vehicles/troops. I am not sure about three vs two and having something else instead, but for now I will be expecting three longfang squads usually and as such would require this to really cover an army. My biggest regret is not having two of those elite stormtroopers; I really like the flexibility of that unit.

Anyone have any thoughs on this, or will it just get buried to page three within a day?

As an aside, one Leman Russ can be replaced by another elite stormtroopers and an Astropath to help them...

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

Hey, here are some questions and suggestions on the list.

First off, the Inquisitor lord needs at least 3 henchmen for his retinue.

Second, why the stormtroopers? For less points you can take a 10 man squad of vets with 3 melta guns. Are you taking them to outflank with scouts?

The PCS w/ 3 melta isn't bad, but with 4 flamers you get a squad that is cheaper and serves a really great anti-infantry role. You can use that 10 points saved to get a 4th melta in the CCS.

I prefer the infantry squads in a blob so that they can benefit from orders and be really tough to shift objective holders. Instead of the two chimeras, you can get a commissar and another las cannon squad. That way you have a 30 strong objective taking unit that can also all benefit from a single order and shoot very well. Or, you can just give them a flamer and put them in the vendettas. That frees up a ton of points.

I really like a.cannon HWS, and I think they will serve you well.

The melta vet troops squad is a tried and true winner.

You really like the plasma stormtroopers? They are cheap, no doubt and can ride in the vendettas, but so can 50 point SWSs with triple flamers. Something to think about as the units in the Vendettas hardly ever get out. It is often best to make the cheap as possible.

Lastly, the exterminators w/ p.cannons are not something I have tried, although Shep has, you may want to ask him how he likes them. For the points, you can take 2 hydras per Exterminator and get a lot of firepower for less points. Again, just something to consider.

On the whole though, I think you have a good list. It isn't weak at all and would most likely serve you very well. I do think though, that you could tighten it up a bit.

Good luck at NOVA! I will see you there.

Oh, and the Hood is pretty clutch, but not totally necessary in a Mech list.

When I use my Inquisitor in my IG list I often find he isn't worth it. I just love my assassin and so bring him along often and find that when the hood is good, it is REALLY good. Lash Chaos, Warp Time, Eldar, Nids, Wolves to an extent, BAs, Marines, etc. all can have powerful psychic units shut down by your hood.

Here is another idea I plan to playtest. At least this one is a legal one

Outflanking Al'Rahem is pretty good. I have the option to throw the Plasmagun troops, the flamer Squad without commisar, or the CCS/Vets into the Vendettas, or just have them fly empty. The flamers can combine to a single blob that could be effective at holding a point, or possibly covering up an enemy deployment zone objective (Should they have meltaguns instead?).

I fell in love with Elite Stormtroopers configured this way in my 'Ard Boyz list. They can Scout, Infiltrate or Deepstrike depending on the needs of the mission and the opponent.

CCS w/ 4x Meltagun, Astropath, Chimera 175

5x Imperial Guard Stormtroopers w/ 2x Meltagun, Chimera 160
