Poll
Do you try and complete the oaths that go with your HQs sagas?
I openly try to every game.
If I have the opportunity sure, otherwise no.
I'm not required to so I don't do it.

I have never seen it mentioned, let alone tried.

Not required, don't care. From a fluff standpoint I should but its one extra thing to worry about so I don't.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

Really gw should have put in a penalty for breaking oaths, like forfeiture of kill points or additional benefits to the opponent

This. It's pretty much "Here, take a cool special rule! If you want you can do something completely arbitrary and pointless game-wise!"

I had totally forgotten about them until you just posted them again.

I'm a very fluff-centric player, but since there's no detriment to failing them I often forget them. Then again, it's been some time since I played my Space Wolves.

I commonly run Ragnar (Saga of the Warrior Born) and a Wolf Priest with Saga of the Beast Slayer together with a unit of Blood Claws. Ragnar rarely has trouble fulfilling his oath, and commonly reaps a great tally or slays a (multi-wound) enemy worthy of a tale. The priest has more trouble keeping his oath, but the MEQ meta-game where I play is at fault for that. It is hard to keep an oath with no enemy present to enact it upon. He fought the Nightbringer the other day, and his death was worthy of song.

Hail!

Never would I forget my honor and forfeit my sworn oaths! I would rather be slain where I stand that have such a disgrace hung from the legacy of Erik Wolfbrother!

To be honest though, I haven't played with some of the Sagas just because of the confusing factors around them (for me anyway: those such as Saga of the Hunter and Saga of the Iron Wolf).

But when I do take Warrior Born, Bear, Beast-slayer, Wolfkin, or Majesty with any special characters or just normal Hq's I always go for accomplishing my Sagas.

I understand that it isn't a required aspect of the game, but I really think it makes it more interesting. When my Bjorn goes down, there's no way my models aren't going to be there at the end of the game. I've never left his body for the enemy. I also try to either see my Lone Wolves reclaim their honor or meet their Glorious Death. It makes it more fun to tell stories to your friends about how Character X saved the day or destroyed such-and-such before dying to some big baddie.

For Russ and the Allfather!

War within, War without, War everlasting.
