Why does chaos have no skimmers

if the iron warriors can take ig tanks and make them chaos why cant they do that to a skimme. I'm just tryin to figure that out blood angels have the stormraven spacemarines have landspeeders necrons have the monitlh tau and eldar have all drifferent types of skimmers. im just tryin to figure out why chaos has no skimmers at all

They're difficult to maintain...
The Leman Russ however was built to be easy to maintain whilst still kicking ass.

I think it's because Chaos doesn't really have an Identy other than Spikey Marines with Daemons.

Now that Daemons have gone away, I look forward to seeing what happens for us.

Gameplay-wise, it's just one of those things that creates a distinction between different forces. If everyone has everything that everyone else has, there's not much point having different armies int he first place.

Fluff-wise, GW explained it way back in the murky past as being due to anti-grav technology being difficult to maintain, and the Chaos Legions just not having the resources to do so.

Well, that and they have no real need for it.

If they want anti-gravity floating gunplatforms...they have sorcery for that.

Anti-grav vehicles were still in the testing stages during the horus heresy, so the legions that left the imperium never got any, or have lost the few prototypes they had.

Anti-grav vehicles were very much not in the testing stages during the Horus Heresy.

They were actually more common during that era, as the technology for things such as Jetbikes was not lost yet.

Iron Warriors can't take IG tanks. They used to be able to take Basilisks in their last codex, but that's been obsolete for years now. Blood Angels also have land speeders.

Chaos doesn't have skimmers so there's something different between them and regular Marines. It's something to justify having a separate codex. I wouldn't take land speeders anyway, they're too flimsy.

i wouldnt use land speeders i love playin my chaos army and i would love to be able to use blight drones but they are in the imperal armoury and there skimmers that are worth it

My Landspeeder with a AC and HB flinched off 6 consecutive melta shots within 2k6" penetration range. They may be flimsy, but that doesn't change that their awesome

Perhaps the Chaoslords are too occupied to twirl their moustaches instead of ordering some cheap skimmers from Xana II.
Allowing no good deed to go unpunished and no evil deed to go unrewarded will probably also consume much of their precious time.

The shift, period, and comma keys are all your friends. Please learn to use them.

For the record, most people would be okay with you using Blight Drones with the Forgeworld rules. Tournaments are different, but friendly games should be fine.

The old fluff did hint that the various skimmers, notably Land Speeders, were still in the testing stages during the later phases of the Horus Heresy. However it makes no sense as it was supposidly discovered alongside the Land Raider (both are named for Arkhan Land apparently). Needless to say the fluff isnt all that air tight around the subject, since back then you could also have a current chapter turn traitor, and suddenly they'd loose their Vindicators and land Speeders for no reason. Current one isnt that much better, as suddenly Crusaders and Whirlwinds all apparently are alergic to warp-energy as well (not counting the newer variants as they're obviously not even conceived at the time of the CSM dex's update). Given the rate of things, if CSM gets an update in the foreseeable future (likely not) they'll likely have alot of SM fare crammed down their throats, or a whole slew of cheese units like Helltalons (with a differet name and possibly something insanely broken) and Brass scorpions in their book.

Personally I wouldn't want any imperial related skimmers in my chaos army.

What I would love is some sort of daemonicly piloted flying machine to transport my men. ANYTHING that isn't a Land Raider or a Rhino to carry my increasingly useless Khorne Berserkers would be much appricated.

Plus I love the idea of some large disc of Tzneetch to carry troops, give them additional armor/cover/invun save or somthing.... *Puts conversion hat on*

Well, look at it this way. Chaos don't have skimmers, but they do have the only walker I know of that carries an ordnance weapon around.
If anyone knows of another, do inform me immediately.

If they update the codex then we'll probably get Hellblades or something, filling up the skimmers part quite nicely.
