As in the BRB, pg 72, "walkers that are lost in combat cannot be shot at"

pg 73, "Defeated walkers do not take Morale Checks and are not affected by the No Retreat! rule"

But the BRB does not mention walkers actually having to be locked in combat... maybe the reference on page 72 is for the one full turn they are locked in combat?

So does the reference on page 73 mean after a full round of combat they act as vehicles and can move away?

Thanks

Take a look at the section labeled Walkers and assault on the top of page 73.

They can be locked in close combat

Also be careful what your walker assaults, it might stay in said assault all game...

I had to laugh at the Blood Angels guy that charged his two psychic librarian dreadnaughts into my huge pile of 30 Termagants. I just ignored them for five turns until I felt like sparing the monstrous creatures to go kill them.

That is just... ridiculous...

BA players in my experience always over-estimate their power. Go ahead, charge in with 6 attacks a turn on my 30 Fearless wounds...

I locked up Nugle once all game with a plain ole multi dred which I brought for secondary support. He was armless but wasn't gonna die.

If you're playing against imperial blob squads, a dreadnaught will tie up that blob for the whole darn game. Unless the IG was smart enough to include some meltabombs.

Can't say I've ever had a dread get locked in close combat for an extended duration, either. Then again, this is mostly because my dreads usually blaze happily away with plasma cannons at my own troops.
