Just recieved my stormraven today and it has a hell of a lot of weapons, GW doing the usual thing by not making them interchangable which is a pain because i'd like to use most of the weapons i'm given, i know that people will tell me to magnetize the weapons on but my skills aren't that great to be fiddling with things like that. So what do you think would be the best set of weapons to put on my first stormraven?
Cheers

i just have to ask, what makes it hard to magnetize your weapons?

Could be the fact that I'm a lazy poor student that just spent his food money on a stormraven? Ah no but i'd love to magnetize if i had any idea how to

Super quick and dirty version:
- Get a dremel or power drill with a variety of small drill bits.
- Get some RE magnets off the interwebs. ($10 for 100 magnets or something like that)
- Drill a hole in the piece you want to put a magnet in. Put in magnet and glue it.
- Do the opposite (check polarity before gluing!) in the part you want attached.
It was a lot easier than I thought.

I don't have one yet, but I've been thinking. Do you plan for long range fire power or closer support.
If long range go with the typhoonand the TL las cannon
Closer I'd go MM-ASScannon-Hurricane bolters.
Mine is going to be set up for closer. But yeah magnatizing weapons isn't so bad. I got my razorback/Rhino all set up to do all configs but tl flamer. and ass cannon(bits in main on these)

Anytime I've used the raven so far, I've had good success with using a Multimelta and an Assault cannon.

3mm Drill Bit and Cheap Pin Vice from Squires: http://www.squirestools.com/
3mmx1mm (or deeper) Magnets from First 4 Magnets: http://www.first4magnets.com/f331---3mm-dia-x-10mm-thick-n42-neodymium-magnets-pack-of-50-j21y-747-p.asp
Apart from Shipping, which with squires wont be free unless you go over £10, and not too bad for first 4 magnets, £3 for next day delivery
All in all you're looking at about £10-15 at the most (Drill bit is less than a quid, pin vice wont be more than a couple of quid, and delivery shouldn't be that much)
And you're laughing.
Also, I'd suggest using superglue for gluing the weapons on, that way then you have the option of removing them even if you just deep freeze it for a while and snap the weapons off. OR blu- tac works wonders as well.

If I was closer to Blackpool or you were closer to Leeds I'd give you a hand. It's not too difficult to be honest, I've only just started doing it and I'm pretty pleased with the bits I've done. Don't buy magnets from a hobby store or website, get them from a magnet supplier - more choice, better price.

As RavenQ said, a cheap pin vice and a couple of drill bits. Small hole in each piece, super glue a magnet in each hole (check the polarity ) and presto... all the weapon options you could ever want. I have done it to my Fire Prisms so they can be Falcons or Wave serpants, depending on how I feel.

Yeah, bluetac them on for now until you get some magnets. Honestly, they are a blessing

I'd highly reccomend First4Magnets, get your order in before 2pm and you will get it next day, hell, last order i did with them, it was a 7 hour turnaround, i ordered, 7 hours later they were sent off, now that is fast.

I finished my SR today, and managed to get the weapon loadout interchangeable with little fuss. The nose weapons didn't need magnets, they had a tight enough fit. The turret weapons likewise fit snug, but I did magnetise the outer casing. Finally the Hurricane Sponsons were magnetised, but regular doors also fit without problem.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!
