After seeing the IGN awards for fave characters in the 'Why Mass effect 2 better' thread, I thought I'd raise the question direct to those Dakkanauts who have played either/both games.

After a little bit of thought, although I am a huge fan or Mordin Solus, I am going to go with Tali'zorah.



Partially because I am a huge fan of the voice acting, but also her whole backstory and the interactions she has with Shepard are quite interesting. On top of that she still has my fave conversation, along with Garrus in ME2.

Liara, Mordin and Miranda are close behind her mind.

Went with Mordin although Legion was awesome too espeically when you read his profile in Lair of the shadow broker. He's a hardcore video game player!

What is it with all the mass effect threads recently

Because ME3 is due out this holiday season, and will bring an end to one of the best sci-fi trilogies in the last decade.

Legion gets my top pick. A great addition to the cast. But so is Mordin, and Garrus and Tali got great treatment as returning characters.

Wrex.

Yeah forgot about Wrex. He's actually making his planet a better place to live!

Tali is my favorite, Illusive Man and Garrus follow closely. Legion was also pretty cool.

Mordin >= Liara > Garrus = Legion = Wrex > pretty much everyone else > Kaiden = Ashley > Jack.

I do not like Jack at all.

If Jack put on a shirt and wasn't bald she would be alright. I did like her loyalty mission. Way more fun than Samara's, anyway. (That mission sucked so bad.)

Samara's mission was one of my favorites.

It was frustrating as hell to talk to Samara's daughter, think you've picked the right choice, then lack sufficient Paragon/Renegade points, then she walks off. Had to retry it 4 times.

I also HATED Samara. Something about her. Her appearence or her personality or what just really gave me the creeps. And she was oversexualized for no reason. Wasn't she like a monk or something?

I wish she would have died at the end of my playthrough so I don't have to deal with her in ME3.

Personally I really like Saren. I wish he could have been a character to play. He would have made a nice anti-hero addition to the roster, sort of along the lines of

She was a pretty cool concept for a NPC. Matriarchs were supposed to be spiritual leaders of their people and yet here she was listening to drunks. It would be the earth equivalent of ordered a Jack and Coke from President Bill Clinton...actually that sounds pretty cool.

Right, that. I like how weary she sounds as she rattles off her story to schlub number forty seven. "Yadda yadda yadda, get your drink or get out already"

They should have a bar on the Normandy with her running it. Then sometime during the game, reapers attack the ship while you are down there chatting her up and you have to team up with her and the cook from the in place of your normal characters. It turns out the cook is a Spectre and she is a badass biotic.

weren't most Asari better biotic than unmodded humans?
hence why their commandos exemplifies biotics?

A lot of people hated having Loghain forced into your group.

Urdnot Wrex is my pick. He was really good at soaking up damage and could always say something funny to say about the squad or the mission.

I'm going for the one that isn't up there...

Sovereign.

That thing was bad ass. So sinister and evil. That one scene where Sheperd and Sovereign have that conversation was the best part of the ME saga so far IMO.

For me:

Mordin ~= Wrex > Miranda > Tali > Joker > Garus > Liara > Anderson (Keith David is one of my favorite bit actors) > Legion > Jack > everyone else.
