Subject: Bretonnians vs Lizardmen?

Hi. I just took the plunge into WHFB, and I'll start with Bretonnians. I have never played a game with 8th edition yet, just some intro games back in 7th edition. I do know some basic fluff though, I got the rulebook for orcs and gobos, empire and the previous edition of lizardmen. I don't own the Bretonnian one yet. So here's my question. Is it likely for Bretonnians to fight against Lizardmen? I know that lizardmen never go out of Lustria, so the Bretonnians would need to go to Lustria. Would the brets venture out like that? I mean, they are knights, they don't have interests in colonies right? I am asking because my friend plays Lizardmen, and he'll be my regular opponent.

There would be no reason for bretts to fight lizardmen unless the lizzards came to them or a questing knight wen to Lustria to try to find the grail.

Yeah, if they ever met, it would probably be a Brettonian quest to find the Grail, or maybe a knight trying to prove himself by bringing back the head of a stegodon or something along those lines.

It could be as easy as the Bretonnians rescuing a damsel taken by Norse marauders who went west instead of north.
Upon reaching the shores of the Lizardmens homeland, they find no trace of the Norse and are instead greeted by less than happy Lizardmen who of course mean to protect the sacred land from the filthy invaders...
Kids are spoiled these days. Back in my day we had to use our imaginations.

Actually the end of the lizardmen fluff suggest the age of isolation is at it's end, small scale and eventually even large scale expedittions to attempt and rebuild the geomantic web seem quite likely in the next few centuries, not all that long for creatures who don't age (well their leaders anyway).

Bretts vs. Lizzies happens as often as two players with those armies agree to a game.
On a more serious note, I would like to point out that the matchup in question was the basis for the 5th edition box set, so obviously GW didn't think it was too far out of the question.

The Malus Darkblade series supports the fact Bretonnia has a substantial armada. This armada is well armed and experienced from defending against the constant Dark Elf raids.
Why would any realm find itself in Lustria? Treasure. I’m sure the Bretonnian nobles are just as greedy as everyone else. Except maybe the dwarfs.
Why would Bretonnia not colonize? They are after-all based on French and British.

In the previous LM book the timeline includes:
1847- Amidst rumours of illegitmacy, Duke Tudual du L'Anguille finances an expedition led by his son into the jungles of Lustria. They land at Port Reaver, & spend several months in preparations. Nearly six months after entering the jungles, the Lizardmen temple-city Huatl is robbed of its sacred artefacts. The young Bretonnian noble and his entourage are never heard from again. Their presence is not missed.
It's not in the current book. I would guess b/c the timeline of the current book focuses a lot more on the interworkings of the LM rather than humans visiting Lustria. But its a good example that its not unlikely Brets wouldn't come to Lustria hoping for some gold & glory to return with.
Also when LM & Brets were in the 5th box set I think LM were still living in tunnels in the Old World.
