I think i heard somewhere that IG cannot take allies anymore like inquisitors or a unit like grey knights for example. Is this true? If possible provide a link to the info.

i cannot you link to it, but this is true...

you can always make some rules with youre enemy to chose for 2 armys, or use the old rules... but that is for youre own

don't think, you have to know it if you want to be a commander

The way it works right now, Inquisitors can take allies, its in their current codex. Your guard could be their allies in the game. But according to current rumors on their new rules coming out, the Allies rule will go bye bye. After that, youll have to have an agreement with the person you play against if you want to try that

It's not exactly true, no.

When GW released the DH and WH codexes as downloadable PDFs, they removed the allies rules from them, so if you're using those PDF's you can't use allies.

Rumour has it that this was done so that people starting those armies now wouldn't be caught out when the codexes are redone with no allies rules...

However, these PDFs do not replace the printed codexes (and GW have even said as much on the GW website) ... they're just intended to be something for people to use if they're interested in starting DH or WH and can't get a hold of the now out of print codexes.

Sort of. It is not in the newest version of the codex released. There is, however, an allowance to use the older rules if you have the older physical codex.

I do not know of a link, but iirc it has to do with the new GK code not including allies of any sort.It will not stop you teaming up with a friend who has SM's or GK though.Or even get a few points of either for yourself.

Yes, you can take allies as long as you have the 'real' codex. Here's the link:

And here's the relevant text:

The other point that seems to be causing the most confusion is whether or not the PDF versions supersede the printed versions. They don't: you should feel free to continue to use whatever resources you have available to play your games with; the PDF does not overrule or invalidate the printed Codex book.

So long as the tournament doesn't have rules against it, and includes all of the relevant codexes as usable in that tournament, sure.

That's something that would be entirely up to whoever is running the tournament you're looking to enter, though. There is no single, set, 'tournament standard' that applies to all tournaments.

You can, if you have the print Codex. Odd, but hey ho.

I'd argue more but I'm excited about one of my armies finally getting an update - my days of ice-skating uphill with Daemonhunters armies are soon to be over... I hope!

My 4200 points of Tau, however, meh....haha

It still has allies in the FAQ for IG! So I would say yes! With or without the codex, as long as you have the printed out copy that gw has. It can be found on their website if you look under daemonhunters and Grey Knights

The problem is, without the printed rulebook you do not have any of the rules for allies.

I would just not use allies for IG. New Grey Knights book is due in April. I cut the inquisitor from my lists in expection that the option will be gone in the new book.

It will be gone from Codex Deamon Hunters. But until Witch Hunters is redone, you are free to use allies.

Codex Grey Knights will not out date C:WH.

So if you have a printed copy of the codex you could still use it as it is a current codex with all its rules and bells.

So an HQ, an Elite, 2 troops and a Fast Attack could be taken.
